66 Canso V8 2 Door hardtop.

I bought a 66 Canso 2 door hardtop yesterday and have a lot of reassembly to do. I'll hopefully be leaning on all of you for help so thank-you in advance. Would anyone be able to decode the trim tag for me? Thanks.

I can help with some by memory--

716 is a V8 Acadian

37 is a 2 dr hardtop

1 is first shift at the factory

4 is month (April)

14 is the day in April

I can't recall W and 016 for paint code and trim. If nobody helps, I can find them in the book.

It's called Platinum on Pontiac, Chateau Slate on Chevrolet so not sure what Acadian called it.

The firewall should be body colour in case you aren't aware of that.

"W" means it was originally a wagon, but somebody messed with it. (That's the best I can do to attempt to beat Carl on the colour.)

Chateau Slate Grey is a very rare colour. It was only available for a short time if my memory is right!

Yes, I remember reading the US guys saying that about the American Chevy II's. I think it was something like the first two months of production. And yet, this is an April car, far from the start of production. I wonder if possibly the Acadians had it available for longer, maybe the entire model year?

I don't think I've ever seen an Acadian in that colour. If it was mine and I was repainting it, I'd certainly do it in that colour. Nice colour, and oh so rare...

Carl I think I remember hearing that the colour Chateau Slate Grey was available for 6 days of production (Nova Info). It was my choice of colour for my Canso SD but not my painters! It sure would have been easy to keep clean.

Oh wow, that would make it ultra rare!

Even more reason to paint an Acadian that colour.

Does anyone have a photo of a Canso/Nova in that color? The car has a beautiful pearl blue paint job on it and with the cost of paint, it's not getting changed, but I'm curious as to the original color.

Thanks.

Sweet car! You might want to get the GM docs for it. There were more Canso V8 SD's made (552) than Canso v8's made(302). Rare gem with that paint code!

The package tray is still the original color. It is a nice silver!

Would someone be able to advise the order of parts to reinstall the side glass........... or have PDF's of those sheets from the assembly manual? I do still need to pick up new weatherstripping though.

I received the GM historical report. Chateau Slate Metallic with Blue Cloth and Vinyl interior. Too bad it's so expensive to paint a car.

I did get the drip rail trim installed as well as the trunk lock assembly so I was able to retire the screwdriver.

Would anyone have a hood latch (hood side) and/or windshield trim they'd like to part with? I do have the bottom section of the windshield trim.

I will check in the next day or so for a hood latch. I know I did have one and I think I still have it.
