It sure is a perfect example. To George, there were just over 1,700 1975 GT LeMans cars built but the rumours suggest as little as 48 in this Canada Cup scheme. I was told that would be one for each GM Zone. Also there were apparently Blue and White ones for the Quebec market with Fluer-de-lis instead of Maple Leaf. I have never seen this type. In order to get the GT package the car had to have a V8, most came with the Chevy 350 2bbl which was the first V8 option in 1975. A Chevy 350 4bbl and Pontiac 400 4bbl were also available, with the 400 being as uncommon as hens teeth.

Darryl mentions in the other thread that there is one with a 400 here in PEI. Turns out the owner of that car is the fellow who installed the new roof on our house (and is my boss' brother!). I talked to him about the car last week and gave him the number to GM Vintage Vehicle Services. He's anxious to know how many were built. I'll have to drop by his place to see it. He lives only a few minutes from me.

That would be fantastic to get the actual documentation on these !
When I was in high school a guy we hung out with had an older brother who bought one of these and then moved out west to Alberta to start a new life, he was probably 22 and we were 17. Graham's dad had recently passed away and I gues I never really figured it out 'til now but they probbaly had some money left to them. I recall that Red and White LeMans had a blue engine.

Small world! How cool is that...
It's funny how stuff can be almost under your nose and a long time passes before you know about it. I have a story about that to post when I get enough time.

I'd agree that the price if fair. $20,000 seems to be the threshold for very nice and rare cars of this era and style, like the GTO, Can Am, GS, 442, Grand Am.
If it can't sell this year, being the 150th anniversary of Canada I don't know when it ever will.

Just to add one more detail - you could get the Canada Cup LeMans in either the opera window or louvered window (Sport Coupe) body style. I saw at least two of these cars during my years in Edmonton, one a 350 and the other a 400.
This one is indeed very very nice and original. Although it's rare, the market for these cars (even if very nice) is also relatively small. Personally I like 'em, but I'm a little biased.
Chevy had 76 Olympic cars in these years, the Malibu and maybe a pickup too? They were white with red trim, the red with white is better looking IMHO. Getting cars off Nfld may not be that expensive, ts a backhaul for most truckers.

I've never seen a Grand Am with the big window with no louvers nor vinyl top.
No big windows on Grand Am. It was built on the sport coupe body which more commonly is seen with louvers, then the opera window was also avaialble as mentioned above.
In mid 1973 Pontiac did make the Sprort Coupe available with the long window as comsumer complaints came in from the first year of introduction of louvers but that was only unil the end of 73.
Vinyl roofs were fairly common on Grand Ams.

Dad's 77 LeMans Sport Coupe had the louvers and I remember as a kid getting car sick sitting in the back seat as the louvers blocked your view from the side windows. I usually ended up in the front seat on long trips (much to mom's chagrin as she ended up in the back seat!).

That's funny I rode shotgumn in our 73 too, Mom always said she felt like she was in jail in the back seat !
As a kid/youth riding in the back seat, I hated what happened to cars in the seventies and eighties. Between opera windows, rear windows that only rolled down a few inches or didn't roll down at all, drives were way less enjoyable. To this day I still enjoy driving with the windows down in warm weather vs having them closed up with A/C on...
LOL! Yep! When dad had the 69 Pontiac I do remember the rear windows were really stiff trying to crank them down but at least they opened! Often that chrome trim that was stuck to the back windows would fall off! Luckily it never fell down into the quarter panel!

I haven't seen it again in years. Last time was at The Spoke Wheel Museum car show in the parking lot (not in the show).
