I've seen this car before - Wasn't it someone's avatar on here? Was it for sale in New Brunswick? Be a cool car with a healthy BBC or LS under the hood!
Is it me or are there more and more cars like this for sale with insane asking prices? $17800 for the 71 in Ontario?? Every day I scan Kijiji here in PEI, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and the prices for sub-par and mediocre old cars are insane. In fact there's a car (I won't say what it is) that has been for sale since we moved here in 2013 and the price hasn't moved a penny! I don't get it!

There was 75 for sale here in NS for a year or so that colour, but full vinyl top. I think it sold last fall or this spring, think it was an Impala. That may be the one some are remembering.

Mahone Bay, NS Still not old enough to need an automatic
The vinyl roof was added afterwards, though the fender skirts could be a legit factory option. I recall seeing a new 1973 Bel Air coupe with skirts and small standard dog dish hubcaps (definitely a throwback to about 1949 for that elderly buyer that probably left this world by the 1980s).
I notice the car in question has the Impala tail lights from a 75/76 model. The original tail light panel should be like the one shown below on the example of a 1974 Bel Air coupe that I "fixed" from the hack job GM did on the brochure picture. The light panel was used on U.S. Bel Air sedans 1974-75 and Canadian Biscayne Sedans 1974-75 & Bel Air sedans & coupes 1974-76.

No, it's not you, Todd. I've been noticing prices climbing as well, and oftentimes they do stay for sale for a long time (maybe they never sell but they don't update their kijiji ads).
Often it's for something, as you say that's either in bad shape and just not that interesting. I've been drawn to 4-doors a few times over the years because they were great deals due to their lack of popularity. Lately, though, people are asking 2-door hardtop or convertible money for 4-doors. Maybe it's the Barrett-Jackson syndrome, or that people don't really want to sell their cars but hope that they might strike it lucky with some rich guy that wants their car and doesn't care about the price. Maybe it's the cost of paint or other restoration costs that have gone up quite a bit, that is influencing prices? I dunno, really.
For me, it has resulted in buying a newer 'muscle car' with low kms and zero rust for a used car price. Got tired of looking around for an old one that was reasonably priced and not a rust bucket. Now I just get in and drive and I'm OK with that. It's not everyone's cup of tea, and I'd still like to get another old one at some point but that won't be until I don't have to pay a fortune for somebody's junk that needs 'everything'. I don't have access to a shop where I can do a restoration so it pretty much would have to be a driver that can be improved bit by bit as necessary. The way the market has been going, it's probably not going to happen.

I am remembering that this specific car was for sale once or twice in the last couple of years. I specifically remember it because it was a Bel Air, and it had that (can I say it?) godawful vinyl top on it. Don't remember a price, if it was advertised with one.

I hadn't picked up on the tail lights on the advertised car - good eye, and ha ha... you're right, they did really botch up that '74 Brochure:
So I'm guessing that the dog dish hubcaps on the advertised car are not correct? Looks like they should be like the ones in the pic below:
Thanks for the info. I like to learn about oddball Canadian cars like this one.

The ones shown on the 1972 above are the 1968 - 73 hubcaps. They switched to a new anodized aluminum set for 1974 (shown below) and kept offering them through 1989 on police & taxi (1983 on civilian cars).
OMG you guys are having way too much fun with this.
Mid '70s Biscaynes and Bel Airs.
Doesn't get much more Canadian!
Great thread, thanks!
Could be Laurentians and Strato Chiefs?

Find some for sale and we'll talk about them... lol
No Strato Chiefs after 1970, though.
Laurentian for 1975. It's interesting that the brochure shows them with the base dog dish hubcaps whereas the Chevy Bel Air and Biscayne for '75 are shown only with the full wheel covers.
