1971 Lemans Sport

I just rescued a 1971 Lemans Sport from the race track and want to restore and put it back on the street.  I need parts like inner fender wells, heater core and guts, recessed wiper motor/transmission arm, and radio. All the typical parts that were removed and disposed of trying lighten up the car for racing.

If anyone is interested, I have some go fast parts I am removing like the On/off switch, 3 inch exhaust x-pipe, fiberglass hood, trick dual opening sunroof, to trade.

I also would be interested in fenders, doors, and some of the enduro front end parts as these parts are all in rough shape.  I can salvage it all but it is going to a huge amount of work as I now have it down to bare metal.  I have not seen sheet metal like front fenders/doors for sale anywhere so I do not know if they are being remanufactured.

I also need parts like the power steering bracket/pump for the 455 that works with the alternator.  Any parts that anyone has and are willing to part with I would be greatly appreciative and  interested in as there are lots of little pieces like interior mirror, outside mirrors, rear seat arm rests/rear seat core etc., I know that some of them are the same as Chevelle and other A-bodies but not sure what works and what does not.

The roof had a sunroof installed, I have removed it but I will need to weld in a front piece of the center support and replace the front two ribs for the head liner.

Any help in my project would be greatly appreciated.  Any and all info on this model or sites to find info is appreciated, like did they come/optioned with things like rear spoiler, hood tach/dash tach, a/c etc. I live in greater Vancouver area.

Also have access to some 67 Beaumont parts like a complete a 67 front clip, (hood/fenders),  complete, uncut, stock,  67 dash complete with original radio, complete 10 bolt posi, ( 56 inches backing plate to backing plate),373 gears?, to trade for parts I need.

Is your 1971 LeMans one of the rare ones that originally came with the 455 HO engine? I can understand why you would want to restore this car as a lot of them were only used for drag racing when originally purchased. Good luck with your project. A recessed park Wiper motor from a 1971 Grand Prix will work on your car and be correct.

  1. Do you know how I could contact the owner owner of the Lemans in the field?  It looks like a perfect donor for the parts I need. Great lead thanks.

  1. What  I've decoded so far confirms a Lemans Sport and  it has a 455+ with turbo 400 with appropriate badges.  It appears to be all original type installation but I am no expert.  I have original colours etc. and most of sheet metal is original although I am putting on new quarters because bottams behind wheels are rotted out as expecteed.  It seems to be low milage car due to racing history.  Lot more work to put back on street than to go from street to track.  Good bones to start with and should be fun when finished.  Does the cowl tag denote what engine/tranny/rear end it was born with. I don't see codes on it for that info.  Would GM have the info as it was A USA build.

If the car was sold new in Canada GM Vintage Vehicle Services will have the info.

owner is Dale

Pic is 2 years old but car should still be there.

If your car is as you say then the GMVVS documents will prove invaluable when the skeptics show up.
