Looking for a good used BBC drivers side exhaust manifold for my 1968 GP 396.

Thx,

I may have one. I know I have spare but it might be 67 and I think that is different than 68.

Hi Carl, 67 is different, huh? I tried to see if there is a casting number on this one but I can not distinguish any readable numbers.

My bolt loop is broke off the outside of #1.

I checked mine and it is indeed a very late 66 or early 67 manifold, cast July 66.

And I checked the interchange. You need one from a 68-70 full size car or 68-70 pickup truck. Camaro/Chevelle/Nova manifold will NOT fit.

Ok thx for the responses!  I am hoping Carl has something stashed away or can give us some insight  on whether a 67 and 68 manifold interchange.   I know that I was looking at some later model manifolds online, perhaps early 70's manifolds and they had the plugs in them for the pollution control systems, I think, where as mine do not have those plugs.

I am quite sure I recall the difference from way back when. One style really hugs the block and the other style dumps more straight down. As I recall, the exhaust pipe for the driver's side won't interchange between 67 and 68 because of this, quite different right at the front of the pipe where it meets the manifold.

On a side note, I hope Howmac sees this. He's in Ste Adolphe and he is into the big block B bodies. He may have something for you because he has a 69. If he doesn't reply, send me a PM and I can give you his home phone number.

The casting #  you'll need is 3914613 for the LH drivers side . Unique to B body Big Blocks, for both 68 and 69 .

They are out there , often left behind when the B bodies get parted  by  the Camaro, Nova and Chevelle builders who take the RH only

Hollander interchange says 70 454 B body as well Howard. Would you agree with that?

Yes, 3914613 is good for 1970 B body as well. I'm sure I have one, will get it from the garage and post a photo tomorrow (Wednesday) evening.

Good to know the casting #, mine seems to be gone!  Thx for all the input because I would have not known the "year" and model differences and would have likely went out and got the wrong one, but great to know that I need a 3914613.  I see a few on the web but I will gladly wait for seventy2plus2 to post a pic!!

Thx,

Jake

Here you go, fresh from my garage.   Casting # 3914613, date code I 19 8, which is Sept 19 1968, which would technically make it for an early 1969, but who's going to see your date code once it's mounted?

All the ears are there and intact, the studs will need to be replaced.  It's tough to find a good one.

I have two lefts for my 66 big block swap. I'm going to have to check the ears very carefully I guess.
