1966 Beaumont SD verification

Hi all,

I'm sure this question has been asked and answered somewhere on the site but took a quick look and couldn't find it so here goes; I have located what appears to be a nice 1966 SD but before I go look I want to know how to verify authenticity. It seems to have the right emblems and trim but If I recall, trim tag must show A51 option?

Thanks in advance.

Think I may have found the answer from this post canadianponcho.activeboard.com/t63023172/67-sport-deluxe-as-an-option-vs-a-separate-model/.

I suppose I'll need to check build date to confirm.

Owner says not rusty, I'm more familiar with 68-72 A bodies, is there any particular hidden rust areas to check on the 66-67 models?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you are right. Any SD before the changeover to model 738 SD's was a 735 or 736 with option A51.

I am no A body expert but I know the 2 common spots are on the "S" in the frame behind the front wheels, as well as a little bit back from there, and of course the body mount right behind each rear wheel, including the trunk floor area above that mount.

It will be bonus too if you can take a good look at the back up lights in the bumper. They are notorious for being damaged and rusted out and are almost impossible to find. Is it the white one on CL?

Thanks Carl, much appreciated! Yes Jerel it is, it was for sale a couple months back and I assumed it was sold but now he's lowered price. Do you know anything about it? White on red is my absolute favorite combo, so frankly being a SD is just icing on the cake for me. It looks really good in pics but I know it can be much different in person. Not expecting mint for that price but want to make sure body is good and paint decent.

No, sorry I don't know anything about it. The color combo caught my attention too I guess for an obvious reason but I really love the 66s. I'm sure it would be well worth checking out. He is saying easy restoration so be curious how much it needs. Good luck with it whatever you do.

Hey 68vert,

If you can get me the VIN number and cowl tag I'll decode and let you know what you've found.

My emails are daweir@telus.net and 72Searcher@gmail.com

I don't come here all that often any more so I just happened to see your post today.
