It was good to see Dave Schroeder win overall this year in his Nitrous 832" Mid Year corvette after crashing it last year. Dave managed an average ET in the high 6's over 5 tracks and 5 days with 1000 miles of street driving thrown in.

We can't overlook Rich Guido from Red Deer winning the stick shift shoot-out this year in his NA '65 GTO either...turning in consistant 9.80's. The man can bang gears with the best of them!

There were a good number of Canadians there this year, I'm real happy two of them won.

He had the flat black 72 Dart Swinger didn't he? I didn't know he won his class, that's super cool!! I think he ran a best of 7.61?

There was a fellow from Manitoba with a GTO (66?). Last I saw him race he blew the rear end. Anyone know if he finished?

Hmm, can't picture it. I'll have to ask Gary. He was there and may know the car.

66 GTO is Ed Hohenberg from St Andrews/Stoney Mountain area.
He broke his locker on Day 2, replaced it with a spare spool and gearset but had to hand in a 20 second pass for the break.
He finished the week and went to the semi finals of the stick shift shootout.

Ok, I wondered. That's my brother's old 2 door post tri-power car, right?

The father to my nephew with the Beaumont bought it around 1975'ish. Tripower stick car, 2 door post. I think the factory gearing in it was something like 4.10. That thing had lived a hard life and it didn't get any easier with my brother driving, one of the hardest powershifters I've ever known!

The car was rough. It had come from Ontario we were told. It already had a small rust hole in the roof almost right above the driver's head. He didn't keep the car long, it was sold in to Winnipeg. I had wondered for a long time where it went, then one day likely 10 years ago I started hearing about the identical car being restored in Winnipeg. I'm certain it's the same car, identical options etc right down to the rust repair on the roof right over the driver's head!

I should add, although it may not have been a nice car, the restoration is beautiful. I noticed it sounded like I was beating up on it with what I wrote above.
