Pontiac Small Block Valve Covers No PCV Hole(s)

IMG_2797.JPGIMG_2797.JPGThis is a pair of early 60's (I believe) Pontiac small block valve covers. They are in pretty nice as removed condition. I do not see any dents, the paint is faded, some scratches. No pcv holes 2 clips on one valve cover for holding some wiring harness or vacuum hose in place.

They don't turn up that often any more.

Asking $30.00 plus actual postage. IMG_2798.JPGIMG_2799.JPGIMG_2800.JPGIMG_2801.JPG

You're right they are hard to find.....

I looked for years at swap meets and in ads to find them for my 63 Parisienne.

The following year (1964) this style wasn't used any longer

Thanks to Jim (hawkeye5766) I finally  got a pair.

The PONTIAC decal is still available

I got mine from ebay (don't know if this this company still carries them)

I don't know about CDN Pontiac 327's, but Chevy 63's had a different top to them than these. These would be 283 from late 59 until they went to the ones with the PCV valve covers? This is the 63 327, not sure how many years they had this look.

On some of the earlier ones weren't the hold down bolt holes staggered?

Yes, I think until 59 maybe? These must be 60'ish?

Found this online---

Chevrolet Service Bulletin # DR 410 dated May 22, 1959 states that new cyl. heads with revised oil drain back troughs requiring straight valve cover hold down bolts went into partial production on that date... full production by July 1, 1959.

Good for a number of years of 1960s 283s ... just the stickers/decals are different.

Thanks guys for all the valuable information on the valve covers.

I also have the matching ram's horn exhaust manifolds. I haven't listed them because they are heavy $ for postage. I can if someone needs/wants them.

Just curious what the difference was between 63 and 64 283 valve covers?

I think Old Goat usually reads here early morning, so hopefully he replies then. If not, he's a friend of mine who lives not far away and I will either be calling him or see him tomorrow. If you get no reply here, I'll mention it to him.

Just to set the record straight.

the staggered bolt pattern heads were used in canada thru 1961 and even the odd early 1962 castings had them. McKinnon castings

Only in canada tho,  USA production stopped in early 59 i believe
