Saw this on PEI kijiji - looks like a good car for the price - colour looks the same as Darryl's Parisienne.
dark aqua marine met..2dr hard top 389 ci automatic ps pb.This car was in rust free condition when I found it in Mass.USA.. It was a one owner car. In 2005 it had complete mechanical overhaul.new body mounts, brake drums shoes etc, factory rebuilt 4 sp auto transmission, and rebuilt engine. The last picture is of this car when I first saw it.All ive done to it since I drove it home was a repaint because original paint was too faded. I also had a new roof liner installed and new carpet.. The interior is very nice with a couple small places where thread has let go on front seat bottom..this car runs beautifully and is a pleasure to drive..there is no rust inside or under this car..every nut and screw came out easily when I was stripping it for paint about 15 years ago. This price is half its estimated value and I will not sell for less than this sacrificed price..i love this car but I have 8 others and feel bad that this car is setting year around not being used. I have only put 100 ,miles on this car in the last 5 years. . I would like it to go to someone who would have more time too use it.
Darryl and I have been discussing this car via email. I've seen the car once and it is very nice. See the 62 Pontiac in the background? If I had the moolah I'd be on it.

I'd actually consider it myself if I had a little more cash available at the moment. Compared to the 4-door Cutlass in the other thread this is 5 times the car for about twice the money.
This car might be sold. The seller sent me an email by accident thanking me for the wire-transfer.

Maybe they found something wrong and want to sell it for enough to get their sales tax back? Still seems a reasonable price?
There is still a burgundy 64 Parisienne for sale in Amherst, 2 door HT, it was there in the same spot a year ago.

That's what I was thinking. If they paid a straight 15% on $7500 it would bring it to $8625, which leaves wiggle room from 9 grand. Then again, NS charges tax on appraised value not sale price, so if they think you got a good deal they might charge more tax. Hard to say what might have happened here without knowing the story.
Still, though, it's a shame that he didn't really want the car. Would have been better to leave the good deal to somebody who really wanted it. IMHO, there are too many wheeler dealer types in the hobby that just drive the prices up.
Yeah, buy that 58 red and white Olds that's smashed, been for sale a year now. I've never paid sales tax appraised value on my old cars in NS, motor vehicle may not have a "black book" for old car values like they have for newer stuff.
His other ads have 4 "square body" GM pickups for sale, pics have a 55 (56?) pontiac in them, plus a 62 Pontiac on that trailer next to the 64.

I haven't bought an old car in a while, but last time I looked at doing it (2013), I talked to somebody at the registry of motor vehicles and they do have a guide that they go by. I think in most cases it's not a problem but they have the ability to contest the value of your car and charge you more tax unless you provide them with documentation (appraisal) to prove otherwise. For a newer car, definitely they charge you tax on book value if purchase price is lower.
Wasn't the photo with the 62 Pontiac from the original seller?
Yeah, if you compare the pics in the current ad to the original PEI ad above, the house is the same in several of them.
The new seller probably "recycled" the original seller's pictures.

MC, my comment about the 58 Olds was in response to you saying- "IMHO, there are too many wheeler dealer types in the hobby that just drive the prices up." The guy with the Olds was way higher when he bought it and was likely a dealer. If you are buying something like this, buy it to keep it and if you can't keep it, sell it for what you paid for it.

Gotcha, Don. Yeah I remember seeing that one for sale and thinking that he was asking a lot for a written-off 4-door. Given the scarcity of '58 Olds parts, I think it would be a tough fix.
