I've always loved that oddball Beaumont. Looking at what has happened in Puerto Rico I would say importing the car back to Canada has probably saved it. So it is in the Niagara region now?

I think that was one of the most distinctive aspects of the car.  Although you wouldn't think so it looked surprisingly good with it.

To me, it gave that much extra appeal, an a/c car plus an unusual colour combination.

the part you can still see of the metal dash ahead of the pad is a very faded red

Well,  that car has been totally destroyed, never to be the same again,  and whoever is responsible for the transformation should be ashamed of themselves and exiled to a deserted desert island.  Everything that car stood for is gone for ever.  what a historical letdown!  If you are going to wreck a car, alteast wreck one that isnt so original.

here it is on ebay about 10-14 years ago.

I agree. A car as unusual as this should have been kept original. Maybe he kept all the red trim?

I contacted the seller and almost bought it .  It was south of Chicago .    I love the red and the a/c .      Someone here in Ontario bought it .   obviously didn't respect its History

The nice thing is that the interior changes can be undone if so desired. But have you priced interiors? I guess a more important question is, does the a/c work? Whenever a/c gets serviced its an expensive proposition, and in these parts it must all be tagged & signed to comply with environmental laws. If the system is intact and doesn't leak (very important) and is still running R-12 then it is good to go.

Who knows what shape the original interior was in, a lot can happen to a car in 48 years! Nothing has been done to the car that can't be undone. At least it didn't get cut up into a racecar or pro touring car.
