back in the days when we rented a motor home to go to the Indy fall drags each year we picked up a 30ft Bendix with a 454. The old girl was beat but at 75 mph you could stuff it and it would be at 85 in a blink of an eye with 7 of us on board and all are gear. Averaged between 5 and 6 mpg and 1 to 2 quarts of oil every fill up. It also handled like it was on rails
This stock power is near identical to a pre-1972 LS4, 330 HP, 480 lbs ft VS. 345 HP 500 lbs ft and the LS4 was 10.25:1 compression the motor home engine 8.5:1.
Interesting to see it picked up 6 HP and some torque by lowering the octane to 87 in the modified runs.
