60 pontiac front door glass replacement

Hello everyone, i need to replace the front  door glass from my 60 bubble top. I have the glass removed and just wondering if there are any tricks or tips on getting the top and lower chrome channels off then back on the new glass. Thx in advance

Is the channel held in place by a special glass setting tape?

Never done this, I wonder if it's detailed in the shop manual?

I just replaced all my glass, on my 64 parisienne. I used a heat gun and some insulated leather glove to pry them apart.

Installing glass into the channel went easy with Ammonia free foaming glass cleaner as a lubricant. Just wrap the setting tape on the glass, spray the channel and insert glass. I used 2 racket straps and rags to pull the glass into the channel.

Great info , thank you all , i just got the glass out using the method Pontiax mentioned. I need to decide if im going to use the lower channel , its got some rust inside the channel. The last post mentioned using urathane, is that used without setting tape?

Yes, clean it up good and I am thinking you would need a urethane primer in there as well before applying the urethane.
