I guess this would be the time to get the gold carpet for the gold 67 coupe. It looks like the carpet would be different for a four-speed with console and a four speed without consult? Can anybody tell me why? I guess the carpet doesnt go all the way under a console? I would think they would have the same floor hump to cover. But Im pretty sure Im going with a bench seat with no console so I will order the four-speed without console carpet. Makes sense! And what do you guys think about getting new underlay when you replace the carpets? Is it necessary on a vehicle where there has been some water inside but overall not too bad? There also seems to be two kinds of carpet underlay. Any comments based on experience would be more than welcome! Thanks again everybody.

Oh, and thanks NOS Reproductions for the info and the sale!!

Give it a try now Tim. I edited it, he had missed an "o" in "reproductions".

My experience has been that the repro carpet for 4 speed to fit 65-67 has the wrong hump molded into it. I ordered a column shift carpet for my 66 Grande Parisienne that had a correct 4 speed hump in it, and Tom installed it after he bought the car. From what I can see, it looks fine.

I should add, before that I got a "4 speed" carpet from NOS and it clearly had the 68-69 hump which is quite different.

And some more reading for you. I posted the question over on Chevytalk because I knew some guys there had done a 4 speed bench seat conversion and I didn't know of anyone here who had. On Chevytalk, I'm "65acadian".

And a bit more reading-

Wow. Thanks Carl for that wealth of information. Ill be reading it over multiple times. And now I know not to get the 4 speed carpet, but to get the column shift automatic version of the carpet for my 67 with small hump. Sounds like Ill need to have my repo hump massaged. Lol. But thanks for preventing me from making that mistake with the wrong carpet!

Theres always another question with me. Not always an intelligent question mind you. With the smaller hump on a 67 compared to 68/69, is there enough room for a Hurst shifter under that stock correct hump and chrome shift bezel?

Re Strato Bench- a little more to it than I thought to convert it. Ill keep pondering that one.
