Proposed funding for the site. Just throwing out some ideas

I mentioned in the dating ads an idea I had about fund raising and taking the pressure off Todd.  I estimated that budget at $500 a month for a yearly total of $6000 and Todd has said I'm in the ball park.  I'd like some feed back on it if it does or doesn't make sense to you members.  I have a gut feeling 5 guys would contribute $12 a month for a total of $720, 20 folks at $10 a month for $2400, 30 at $5 a month $1800, 40 at a toonie a month $960, and hopefully 50 at a loonie a month would be $600.  This totals up to $6480 with a 145 people participating which might be a stretch.  Personally I like to see goals set high but achievable.  Another suggestion I'd make is to put by their profile if they are CP supporters but no need to show whether they contribute a dollar or a hundred.  Think it would be a good feeling for each supporter.  Swag and other donations would just be a nice bonus then.

Secondly if we did something like this I would suggest that we give every 6 months or so unless you can set up something monthly otherwise many of us forget after a couple months.

As I said in the other posting I would like to see this site go along smoothly with our only problems dealing with politics and religion.

I like your ideas. Many sites post the "site donor" beside the member's name, and I like seeing that.

The politics and religion issue has been well taken care of here I'd say, I know from talking to people, it has been a very positive move banning discussion of either topic. I'm sure there are members who wish it could be discussed, members who couldn't care either way, and members who are glad it's gone. I'm just thankful that the cooperation with the ban has worked so well, with virtually no attempts to skirt the ban.

If this came to be I'd be glad to remove the ads. Do you guys find the eBay ads useful? They are more relevant to the site. The don't generate much for the site though ($24 last month).

When I see Jerel's proposal that says 5 guys could give $12 a month that seems ridiculously low, both dollar wise and the number of donors. I can't think of a month gone by in the past many years where I didn't waste $12 on something useless. I bet very few of us couldn't scrape up $12 each month for this place if push came to shove.

Good to see these positive ideas being put forward. I really like the idea of identifying " site donors ".
Count me in.

not a coffee drinker (bad guts) so I could see the amount past over as a donation. Tims only sees hot chocolate money from me on Sunday when I meet the family

I would be in for this as well. I am a hot chocolate guy as well. Like the idea of the donor thing.

What about a yearly membership that allows the member to post photos?

A limit on number of photos????? before membership required. ??

or an access membership. sign up with a small fee to become a posting member.

Just tossing out ideas

Yes, it would be nice to see some sort of incentive for people to donate. Something like you mentioned.

Make it easy to send funds.  Do not just use only PayPal....I could send money orders, visa , cash, etransfer but not PayPal...and I would be happy to so.

There currently options to choose which method of payment you choose.  Look above the paypal portion.....   I think that is where you will find it..

Lots of good ideas however keep in mind there are quite a few limits to what this forum software can do. As for other methods of payement for site support, I accept cheques and Interac e-transfers. If anyone want's to pay by these methods send me a PM and I'll provide the details.

I drink coffee, tea, beer, wine, cider, spirits, water, but do not drink pop (soda) as it's a sugar bomb and worse for your health than any of the previously mentioned beverages.  Paypal is actually very easy to use and you don't have to set up an account with them to use it.  I don't have a paypal account but have used it to make 1-time credit card payments many times and have never had a problem.  I also have a credit card with a ridiculously low limit that I just use for online purchases - that way if anybody scams me it won't take long to reach the credit limit and get flagged by the bank.  It has already paid off for me a couple of years ago when somebody scammed my number and tried to do some large online purchases.

What were we talking about again??

Oh yeah, what Darryl says... whatever Todd thinks is reasonable I will go with... smile

I only see the ebay ads.  I don't have any problem with that.  It seems to me a couple years ago, I was fed up with the dating ads and found a way to opp out of them.

I appreciate everything you do Todd.  I also frequent 2 door post.  It is related, right?

That looks fair to me with one exception.

I feel I should get credit for any posts I make related to keeping JohnneeD in check. That should cut my costs in half.
