Pretty cool idea.

And that's 1977 only trim on that truck in the picture!

Too many years at dealerships! Some of that stuff just sticks.

One of the problems is, you get customers at the parts counter quite often who don't have a clue what year their vehicle is. You have to learn the identifying features from one year to the next. I don't know much about differences on the new ones because honestly I found almost all of them boring and ugly.

The paint scheme on this one is quite refreshing, very creative.

I've been tying to get my long time GM dealer friend to let me do some graphic upgrades to his trucks. I'll show him this.

I haven't forgotten about the decal tutorial, just in a time crunch right now.

I just noticed the wheels look like those used in the 70's.

Super, thanks John. I was thinking about it a little while ago. Not a hurry. Today the Strato Chief is up on the hoist for some maintenance (rear brake shoes worn almost to the metal, and wheel cylinders both seeping). Next week they will likely trade places and once I have the Trans Am in the air I'd like to do the decals.

And for those who are wondering what we're babbling about, John has promised in a different thread to do a little bit of a tutorial on decal installation.

Yup, ochre-coloured paint fill on the moldings rather than black like every other year (73-80). The Cheyenne  super 10 nameplate is like a 73-74, while the Big 10 decal is 1977-80.

Well, I dunno but, you could always refer to the vehicle registration.

That pick-up appears to be a '14 or '15...compare to the actual '17 Chevy's in the background. It's kinda neat as a one off.

I don't like the emblems (especially the dealer sticker), but I really like the paint.

They should do retro-look emblems/badges of the truck's actual designation.

I bought a 1977 Chevy 4wd long bed new and I always loved that trim.  In later years I noticed 77's with that trim on light blue trucks and for some reason I found that very appealing.  Never a BIG fan of the BIG 10 decal.  I love retro and if I ever thought of buying another Chevy or GMC truck I would definitely consider this paint scheme.

For now, my supercharged "Bullet Proof Edition" Truck is 11 years old and pulling strong.

The concept is very interesting .  with a little digging, Im sure you could build a fairly correct version

I like the look.... takes me back! the dark green and white is nice too! When I was 16 I had a dark green/white 79 f--d, then a sea-foam/white 79... then a 38 fargo and '30 model A truck... haven't had a truck since then!

Need one in brown/tan like the Fall Guy!

A technician at the dealership where I worked bought a brand new loaded 77 in two tone, light blue/medium blue. SHARP truck. It was the first year for power windows and power door locks and I remember thinking how cool that was in a pickup.
