Never Chev. There are mid to late '50s valve covers that are stamped Pontiac and other than that they are stickers.

Really, have we seen those here? Rats, I'm wrong again! I thought they were all decals on the 283 and 265.

Early ones in 1955, 56, and possibly 57 had stamped pontiac lettters, similar in style to the chevrolet ones.

Othewise all canadian built chevys and pontiacs had smooth plain covers with decals that resembled the stamped US ones.

Here is an example of the painted chev ones.

also the decals always had a black rectangualar border on both the pontiac and chevrolet versions

Johnnee's picture looks like just a decal. Is it actually raised?

Sure enough.

No excuse other than my brain hasn't been the same ever since I had a F**d in my garage for a week.

My neighbour has a very original 265 Pontiac engine and those covers only have decals. Go figure.

RE: valve covers'

I have a pair of the raised / stamped Pontiac covers on the wall .. staggered bolt pattern.

Don't come across them often.

RE: valve covers

i have had a couple sets over the years,  i think i sold at least  one set on here.

I believe the pontiac raised letter covers would only have come staggered bolt if i am correct?

Yup,raised and staggered...have 1 on the shelf. Did they come on later model heads(un staggered) or was that decal only?

I am betting there are no standard bolt pattern covers with the raised lettering. Pretty sure that was early on only.

I was wrong once before.

I was lucky last week to find a nice set of original 1959-1963 ones with the Pontiac decals still on them.
