Barn find 59 Parisienne 2 door hardtop

Thanks a lot for the good words, guys!

Not much visible progress has been made in the last couple of weeks. The gas tank and radiator have been rebuilt and reinstalled, worked on the many, many little electrical bugs here and there, and now almost everything works as it should.

We are running into a couple of glitches right now that we are trying to solve.

The shifter hookup from the column is not a direct fit with this later aluminium powerglide, so we will have to figure out a way to make this work.

Also, today, we tried to have the ignition to make a spark, but it does not... motor cranks but no spark. The modern HEI distributor unit has been checked and its components seem fine, grounds are ok, wiring and plugs are new,,, still, no spark. This is a bit of a mistery for now!

When converting to HEI, make sure to eliminate the resistor wire to the coil, HEI needs 12v keyed power to run.

Well, the 12 v direct wire to make it work was indeed the culprit. As simple as that! Problem solved and the motor runs great! With a bit of adjustment and timing tomorrow, it will be even better. Ill try and post a video tomorrow.

Im a happy camper, and I am glad I saved this one.

Thanks a lot for the good words! It was pretty exciting getting behind the steering wheel for the first time, as I did not even know if the engine and tranny would be as good as the guy that had them before had told me they were.. But from what I could see, hear and feel, this drivetrain was all it was sold me to be and more: super quiet, no leaks, good power, very smooth shifting, etc. Let's hope it stays that way with more driving!

Now the car is in a body shop for floor repairs and just a bit of body work, but I want to avoid a repaint, as I am trying to keep the car as original as I can. The guy who's working on it knows I want him to tackle only the essentials on the body, but get the car as solid as he possibly can, especially the undercarriage.

I will keep the board posted on the progress.
