Hi all hoping for some advice. I would like to convert my bench seat to buckets in my 68 b body, I have the floor brackets from an ss impala to weld in. What other vehicles would be compatible to use bucket seats from if I can track some down? Can you purchase new frames to install. Have just gotten so much conflicting information (not from CP members) that I am looking for some clarity and definitive answer. Surely I am not the only one who has wanted to do this type of conversion.
Thanks for your time

67 and 68 seats are the same I believe other than the seat backs being metal in 67 and plastic in 68. And 66 would be same as 67 other than the latch for folding them forward started in 67.
I think the tracks likely fit from 66-68 but I can check to confirm that if you like.

I saw a '66 wagon here in Edmonton converted over to buckets and console. Looked real sharp. But it was also painted jet black and had a big block under the hood so it was cool anyway.

As far as authentic the Australian rhd exports were a bit of a Frankenstein as you know with Impala interiors and they were finished off by GM Holdens so door trims etc are not like the Canadian ones I believe. Happy to go with any option that does not look totally out of place, that complements the car. Pardon my ignorance but the options you have stated above are they any GM b body vehicle or specific Pont or Chev

That's what I am going for, I have the console from an SS with tbe U shifter and the Pontiac knee knocker tacho
Most guys say the Chevelle/A body buckets are the same as B body but Fake68 on this forum will tell you other wise and prove it. The difference is very minor, a very slight difference in shape at the top corner that most people don't even know about.
So, you might as well look for A or B body buckets from those years. Actually, I guess Nova or Acadian buckets too, just not F body.

Thanks Carl, there is my dilemma which one do I get that will fit b body tracks and floor mounts, will A body buckets fit?
I am quite sure that A body buckets will bolt right up to the B body tracks. I do know that the B body tracks and A body tracks are not the same though. I will try to check later which tracks fit your floor mounts that you have. What year are the mounts from?

Thanks Carl much appreciated that would be great. I got the mounts from Tinman, Impala SS, I beleive he said at the time they were 65-68 wish he was still around so I can confirm but if I recall correctly he said any b body tracks/seats 65-68 would mount up to them
Have you seen this?
Check the spacing against that of the tracks on the buckets you're looking at buying http://toms427impala.info/CT/65-SSSeatBracketMounting.pdf
I looked in the interchange manual and that made it worse. It shows 65 66 67 and 68 each have unique tracks, none of those years fit any other year. Hard to believe they had 4 seat tracks in 4 years.
