ceramic coating....my side biz (detailing)

Just thought i'd put some pics up of what i do on the side.....restore mostly old bikes and do a LOT of detailing and have gotten into the ceramic coatings lately. Lots of work but they turn out amazing and i have to say that i'm super impressed so far. Thought you guys might enjoy some pics!

All of the vehicles below had the following done:

-stripped all wax
-clay bar
-scratch removal/various compounds
-high speed polish
-ceramic coat

pics don't really do them justice, but you get the idea!

essentially it's a semi-permanent layer of "clear coat" rather than wax or a sealant. It's super tough (9H hardness vs normal clear coat which is about 3H) and lasts for about 5-6 years. You only have to wash it normally and not wax it at all.

Now if you go on any of the company websites that sell it they'll tell you it's a "nano technology that bonds on a molecular level blah blah blah" and it probably does

end of the day, I'm super impressed with the new coating out there and they really do seem to work. water just beads like crazy off of it and dirt doesn't really stick all that well either. If it holds up the way it's supposed to then i'm sold forever!

Is there a particular brand you use? This kind of product would be great to have here in the Maritime's where the climate destroys paint.

Hi Todd

Ive used a few and i like the systemX brand......it's one of the more expensive ones but it works damn nice. It's also only available to "install centers", but i have a line on some good consumer level stuff too.......just no warrantee but meh it still should last well for years.......it's originally designed for aerospace/air craft and marine use so i know it stands up well to salt water.
