I have a dream...about future feature cars.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. What I would eventually like to do is scale down the monthly feature and transition to a quarterly video feature car.

I'd really like to travel this great country of ours and visit the owners of Canadian Pontiac's, Acadian's, and Beaumont's, interview them, and do video of the car in it's "natural habitat". I'd need to invest in a decent video camera, perhaps a Go-Pro, some good video editing software and have the finances available to travel. I'm pretty sure the expenses could be claimed as part of the business.

Wouldn't it be great to hear the story of these great cars right from the owner and see these cars running down the road? While this may not happen this year (or even next) I'd really like to make this a reality at some point.

I bounced the idea off of Mark (Cdnpont- who ironically is the person I bounced off the idea of Canadian Poncho in the first place) and he had some good suggestions. One of them would be initially starting "close to home", featuring cars here in the Maritime's. This would keep costs down and help determine if the whole idea is worth pursuing.

 Thoughts?

I love the idea Todd, but I still hate the thought of giving up the monthly feature car at the top of the page.

I'd certainly start a Youtube channel and maybe put an ad in it to generate some revenue to put towards costs.

Thats a great idea! A My Classic Canadian Poncho quarterly.

Better get started on the handlebar moustache Todd!

If this idea comes to life and expands out west, the features could expand to groups like here in Winnipeg. We get good turnouts to meet for coffee as it is, but I would expect a substantial response if you announced a celebrity appearance by Mr. Canadian Poncho himself!

Here's my 2 cents...

As an avid video / film amateur and producer in the past 37 years to me it's an excellent idea. It gives me another "excuse" to shoot some scenes and use my editing software to create interesting clips. I've done several in the past & would certainly participate in your project. In fact, if feasible we can set guidelines and post videos on a Youtube channel as already stated or if you create another section in discussion forums called VIDEOS for example we can add them there, if this is an option.

Then we should stick to 3 to 5 minute videos (whatever is decided) and send them in. We can certainly shoot scenes of our cars (with live audio!!! - yeah!) around town, famous landmarks, etc. and add narration when possible and could turn out to interesting scenes. Decide on guidelines, resolution, contents and we can certainly go for it.

I can even be a guinea pig to try out if you'd like.

Cheers, Leo

I too had that same dream Todd, in fact when Jim and his 66 Canso were here last summer I told him

how I would like to do a major road trip with my film maker son and visit all the Poncho members across the

country, see their cars and hear their stories...........would be an excellent idea and would  document  a auto history

of Canadian Pontiacs.

Mike, I guess you joined later than May 2011 so you may not know about Todd coming to Mb. He arrived just days after our road reopened due to the flood that year. We surprised him with some "assistance" with his trip expenses.

If you scroll about 3/4 of the way down this very long thread you will see a video when we presented him the thank you card.

And for any of those here who joined up after this event, check it out. I wish some other groups around the country would do the same for him to show their appreciation. You would be amazed how easy it was to fund raise. We did a bunch of private messaging and from what I know he basically had a free round trip plane ticket when we were done with him.

That trip to MB has been one of my greatest CP memories. Leo, thanks for the offer. I'll seriously consider it. It also comes down to how many hours I'll be working this summer. Last summer it was 6-7 days a week! I have one employee now who I'm currently training. Hopefully they work out and I can get some time off in the summer. You're not too far away either. I haven't been to Montreal in about 35 years!

Todd, as a thought for video editing software, I do a lot of this and use Adobe Premiere Elements. You can buy it bundled with Photoshop and create some incredible movies for a reasonable price. The effects that can be done with it are amazing and I've only scratched the surface of what it can do. The software retails under $200 for both. One thing, you'll need a fairly powerful computer, good video card, lots of RAM etc and also dual monitors is helpful.

I'd have to round-up some Island characters to be in my video ... wouldn't be too hard.

I like Leo's suggestion...In place of traveling, you could just simply direct the footage yourself Todd, have those with the capability to film the footage locally take it, and send it to you for editing into a form you'd be happy with. Let us know what it is your looking for, who's car's you'd like to feature, etc. Basically write the script.

Those members (like Leo) with the technical know how could help out in a post here, teaching those interested how to do this, what equipment, software we'd need at a minimum to be successful.

Just basically direct, gather and edit it all yourself, leave your mark on it so to speak.

As far as the editing software, I'm sure the good members here would come up with a way to donate a decent one to you....

This would be fun.

Good suggestions guys. Mark- half the fun (for me) would be seeing these cars in person. $200 isn't bad for software either. I could really use a Photoshop upgrade. I'm using a version from around 2004!

Yeah, I think these days you can make pretty good videos just using an iphone or similar.

Example:

I haven't done any myself, but it seems like a good alternative as phones are getting better at photos and video all the time.

Just a thought.

Good idea .  and just put a different photo at the top each month (w/o story) . You could travel in the winter, when the Bees are asleep
