And was there also a small transmission hole on some aluminum units? You have to be careful on Acadian/Nova units with that one because some of the earlier units have a small hole that a Muncie won't fit. I don't know if full size works the same way though.

Thanks for that Carl, the transmission going in is a M21 Muncie, so bell housing hole size has to be a consideration.
63 Chevy, Corvette, & Cdn Pontiac were small hole, I'm not familiar with the Acadian and Nova/Chevelle/Beaumont stuff for any year. You could get a small hole/input shaft 63 Muncie, it was a mid year change from a T10 in 63. The small hole Muncie & matching BH is rare but you might get "lucky".

One thing George, I know you can't use the Acadian/Nova unit because the clutch fork position is wrong. I mentioned it because I knew of the difference in transmission hole size.
Don, I never knew there was a small hole Muncie. That must suck when you need one of those. Or worse yet, if you buy one of those thinking it's a normal Muncie.
I knew about the small countershaft 65 and older but not the small hole.

Checked it out....number # is 3925505....no good for me....
The Chevrolet "505" is a cast iron 168 tooth flywheel Bellhousing. It has a 5" center hole which makes it compatible with truck transmissions made for GM vehicles.
I've seen a "shim/bushing" available to resize the hole. That clutch fork must be truck, not familiar with one that looks like that.
There are also some open bottom BH's with side mounts from the tri 5 era and from later year trucks, they will work too.
The BH should not be too hard to find, try a wanted ad on Kijiji? The open bottom cast iron are usually $50 and the closed bottom aluminum $100-200.
