Does the rally wheel option get you 4 or 5?

I don't know that anyone here will know and I don't know how to find out, now that I think about it, but:  if you got the rally wheel option did you get a fifth rally in the trunk or just a stamped 15" wheel?

Every brand new Pontiac I have owned with Rally Wheels never had one on the spare in the trunk, stamped steel.

The only cars I ever bough new that had a fifth matching spare wheel  in the trunk were my Cadillacs.

I dunno what it has to to with this thread but I'd like to see the engine compartment on that if it's restored to stock! They're probably rarer than 427s now!

FWIW, my Range Rover Autobiography came with all 5 of its specialized wheel so you could rotate tires properly.  That's the only one I can think of.

The 70 2+2 hdtp I bought in 1999 with 21,000 original miles had a ralley wheel with the twin stripe Uniroyal as a spare. Even my higher mileage 70 2+2 ragtop I got in 2001 had a ralley wheel spare.

I'd say your 69 would have had a ralley wheel spare.

Were either of those ZJ7 cars though (ie: rally wheels from the factory)?

Regardless, I now think it should include the spare because the parts book lists 5 as the Qty for the "WHEEL, STAMPED STEEL" part.  Part number 3901698.  Now I suppose I need a date coded rally wheel!

Dad's 77 Lemans Sport Coupe had a ralley wheel as a spare.

I would bet that at least disc brake cars (if not all rally wheel cars) had to have a rally spare because there was no other stock rim that would clear disc brakes.

In 1970 all the 2+2's came with ralley wheels.  Unlike prior years, there was no hubcap option on the 1970 2+2's.

You're right, I forgot that! In the brochure they show it with a Deluxe steering wheel, which it mentions. But it also refers to the console as "extra cost"!

I thought we were talking about road wheels, not steering wheels? confuse

I'm confused.

You need to keep up, we're all over We were talking about rally wheels, which led to the 2+2, which led to the 1970 2+2, which led to things that are standard on the 1970 2+2, and the rally wheels were one thing, and the deluxe wheel is postulated as the other.

So do all the 1970 2+2s come with what I call the Camaro/Caprice style of wheel?

It's a 1967 Chevrolet wheel plus a unique medallion.  But the reason you always see the on 70s is that they were standard, unlike in 69, so most would have kept them. But people did strange things and I bet there were 70 2+2s running around on Cragars and Centerlines in the 80s!

But I've never actually seen a 70 2+2 in person!

Still, if they made a couple of thousand 2+2s (I don't know numbers) that's a lot of rally wheels and center caps that should be out there!
