I think this is the third posting in as many weeks. I know I posted it about three weeks ago and it was on again last week and now again today! And, who knows, it might have been posted even before I did so it is getting lots of exposure!
If anything, the tracking network of Cdn Ponchos is working well!

Yep, I think it's been posted so many times because it seems like an ideal CP project. Appears to be solid, is an attractive body style, price is reasonable, and it's non-original enough that you wouldn't mind doing whatever you want to it. Personally I think it would be an ideal car for a big-block 4-speed conversion.
I emailed the seller and it is a later 305 in the car, so you are correct in that it would a good candidate to alter and not feel bad about it. I asked if there were any other options and the seller only indicated the rear antenna.
Note the console has the brushed metal trim, a feature exclusive to the 2+2. The Impala SS version used low gloss black trim. I can't quite see if it is a Powerglide or TH400 shift map. As much as I prefer manuals transmissions, the TH400 is very well suited to this car.
I have always been partial to 1968 2+2s, going all the way back to when these cars were new.
A 305? At least it is a roller. Try to certify a '68 with a newer 305 here in the GTA and you can't until you install cats, EGR... Pure stupidity.

Yeah, actually after I posted it I was thinking that a 427/TH400 would be nice in that car, given the beautiful console and horseshoe style shifter. Play with the trans to firm up the shifts a little and you're good to go...
Or even a hot small block? Wonder how it would work with a stroker engine... If things were different for me (i.e. more time and a place to work on it... or more money... lol), I'd be seriously looking into this one. I like it!
Those government regs are just non-sensical. If they were going to make rules it should be based on the year of the car, not the year of the engine. But in reality, how many miles are put on the average collector/hobby car anyhow? A drop in the bucket compared to other sources of pollution that are deemed acceptable. I guess "government" is the only qualifier needed...
