Anyone else ever have trouble? I remember trying it once out of necessity on the roadside and it pulled the bumper way out of alignment. I don't think it's structurally sound for lifting the whole car... or at maybe my car just wasn't tight!
Now that I think about it, I remember it tearing the slot when used on the rear as well, so maybe I just have bad luck with GM tire jacks. But this car seems especially problematic....

Back when my parents had the 69 Strato Chief and even when I had the 69 Parisienne we did tire change overs and used the bumper jack. I don't recall any issues.
As an aside, I do have a really nice straight rear bumper core that is tore at the jack point.
I never trusted GM jacks so they never leave the trunk. Especially with cars that are no longer new, under torqued bumper bracket to frame bolts, compromised body mounts all can create bumper to body contact and damage. And as mentioned it will always leave damage to the slot in the bumper. stick to floor jacks and if you get a flat on the road call AAA!
I did it once on the rear and the bumper sure flexed
attempted it on the front and said nope, walked across the st to cdn tire and picked up a $30 floor jack, figured that $30 would alot cheaper then the damage a bent bumper would cost

I remember changing a tire on my '64 Laurentian on the rear and the car just about took off in the middle of it. I wouldn't do it on my '66 unless it was an absolute last option.
