Wondering if someone could help me out, someone that has a yoke laying around, or is in the process of doing a diff.
I need a measured dimension seen in the image below, from a standard 12 bolt 1310 yoke. Might even be the same as the 10 bolt.
The picture shows an Inland Empire 1350 that will replace the 1310 in the car. It looks to measure 3 - 5/32.
The reason is, I need to order a new driveshaft, doing so early before my old yoke is actually removed from the diff. Need this measure to make sure the DS length will not be way out between the two size yokes.
Here's some yoke photo's. They're of both the narrow (turbo 350 & std tranny) and wide (turbo 400) driveshafts. The length photo of the turbo 400 yoke is out of focus, but the measurement is the same as the turbo 350 & std tranny one at 2-3/4". What you can really see is the difference in width of the narrow one 3-1/8" vs wide at 3-1/2".
this posting is timely, both my 409 cars have the 1350 style yokes tranny and axel the auto I can see because its running a turbo, and ya I know its not suppose to, but it does, the wagon I can also understand because its a four speed, but I have a rusty four speed 409 custom with the standard 1310 yokes, im wondering if someone swapped them in at some point or if its factory the drive shafts are not aftermarket nor are the yokes
Carl, yes, snap rings everywhere else. Just as stock (I think).

Looks like the Inland Empire 1350 yoke is approx. 7/16" taller (on the UJ cup center) than the stock yokes, give or take. A 16th either way should not matter with the trans slip yoke. So now I can order a DS 7/16 shorter than stock. The 1350 appears substantially beefier everywhere.
This one measures wider than the 400 across the UJ, at 3 5/8 compared to 3 1/2.
One more favor Clint, could you measure the spline length on the 400? I get 1 3/16 on the 1350.

Definitely 1310 stock. 1350's are truck parts I think.

that's what I thought , but why did this end up on these two units, the shafts are bigger in diameter but look factory if it was swapped out early on. im not complaining just curios, probably why I never broke anything the way I drive.

Maybe Oshawa actually did 1350's on the wagons and HD in 65? Poking around on rock auto it actually lists 1310 and 1350's in pinion yokes.

ive got another 65 wagon with a 327 auto 12 bolt with the small yoke , and the rusty 409 custom is a four gear and it too is a small yoke, I think both these big yoke units are early production cars though, but I cant find production number page to confirm
