There are 2 types of tack strip. The originals were all layered, glued cardboard. The more modern are a soft plastic. Some width/thickness combinations are only available in one of the types. Restoration Specialties in Windber, PA is a good source. ( Also Hydro Electric that Dale mentionned. )
