You'd probably like to investigate whether your 1965 would use the same power steering & alternator brackets as up to 1968. I'm presuming it's the same, but others can likely chime in.

For 1969 they moved the alternator over to the passenger side, but I can't remember what year they switched from short water pump to long water pump. I know 1967 still used the short water pump, I'm just not sure about 1968.

Ok, when you say you don't know, that is because you haven't bought the pump yet, or because you are unsure how to identify the two different styles?

If you use the short pump, I'm not sure if the stock 396 lower alternator bracket works with headers.

I may have the power steering pump brackets for the short pump.

Also, are you aware that the pulleys have to be matched to the brackets, i.e. short style pump has one style of pulley, long pump a different style?

It sure looks as if that pump is a direct fit on an original 396 in 66. I'll try to take a look later today. I may have some stuff to help you.

You'll have to have someone else answer the question about the lower alternator bracket, as to whether or not it works with headers.
