This GP looks really nice. Would you pay the asking price?

Beautiful car, likely a bit limited as far as buyers go though. The mid to late 70's market is catching on but so far it's only the F bodies that have really taken off in that era.
I voted too high but I am thinking not way overpriced. And if he's patient, he may find the guy who had one new, just has to have this one and has the money to do it.

I remember an ad in Road & Track about 1979 where an immaculate & unrestored 1971 GTO Judge convertible was for sale at $17000. That was a crazy price back then.
Personally I think that '76 GP is at a precipice. I though that somewhere along the line the Grand Prix was hit with an ugly stick (maybe '74 but it got progressively worse through '77, the ugliest yet the most anachronistic). It represents the last of the extravagant cars and also the last year of 455s. Who knows? The market is fickle and I believe irrationally soft on the G-3s. If somebody steps up then we have a new benchmark. A 9539 mile example is a chance of a lifetime. What is one worth to you? Lets wait and see.

Personally,...I think Grand Prix's are cursed........
From 62.....to 72....they are very cool cars...with the possible exception of the 68.........but don't seem to be worth much....in comparison to GTO's or Firebirds...and they are really as cool...if not better cars....in a lot of ways...
I'd take a 69-72 GP (properly optioned)... over a gto ANYDAY.
Saw a beautifully restored stock 64 last nite @ the cruise-in....that will make ANY gto look insignificant
The 73-77's ARE butt ugly....but most cars of that era really were anyways......and the 455's in 75's and 76's were really LAME in the performance dept...
I had a 75 full load 455 SJ in the mid 80's.......it drove like my couch.....and was a gas hog......and a low performance one to boot...
Good luck to the seller on that one...but as nice as it is.....I'd be surprised if gets even close to his asking price...JMO
like with anything, its all personal taste, I like 65s not 66 that doesn't mean someone else has the same idea. they all had crappy handling , and the 70s cars road a lot better than 60s crap, low mileage is a bonus. big engines are always pigs, but with a little tweaking can be made to work better just like the 60s motors. today I can get steel cranks better rods and pistons, cams that perform, just like a small block, why leave things alone when you have to freshen up a motor anyway.
Nice car, love the colour combination and the options.
Low milage vehicles like this are a tough one, drive them much and the value goes down fast.
If you wanted to start a private museum specializing in Colonnade cars this one would be a great starting point!
I believe the seller looked up the Haggerty appraisal tool and turned the #1 condition appraisal of $17,800 US and used it to set the selling price in Canabucks.
If it were a C10 Chevy or GMC truck big block of similar vintage and milage to this Pontiac my guess is that it would sell quickly.
Trucks are hot right now both new and classic.
Cars not so much, it may be a harder sell at that price.
Time will tell.

Having lived in NB during that '70s era, I would be very, very cautious about buying a car of that or earlier vintage due to the excessive volumes of road salt which were regularly applied to the roads. Even if only exposed to Winter driving for a short time, nuts, bolts and undersides were highly susceptible to corrosion. Cars driven year round during that period were generally trash within five years.
In any case,the car looks really great condition . We used to call those "Pimpmobiles"!
Always suggest a look in person before purchasing any old vehicle, but I would suspect this isn't your typical maritime car. With mileage that low, it's likely been stored inside from new, and the photos certainly present it that way.
I recall many GM vehicles of the time period having rear bumpers that rusted through from the inside out by the time they were 6 or 7 years old. The rest of the car could look pretty good but the rear bumper was rusted out. These days it's one of the first things I notice on those cars - if there are any rust stains bleeding through the chrome, it's probably been winter driven.
I voted Too High, because there's no way I'd pay that much. But I realize there may be someone out there looking for exactly that car. If you wanted a 1976 GP and started with a $500 basket case, you wouldn't get far before you blew through $20,000.
So, for me, the price is way too high. For the right person, the car would be a real bargain.
