Save a Weak BATTERY with Epsom Salt - Does this really work?

Saw this youtube video that claims to extend the battery life way beyond

the five to seven year life of a battery.....does this really work?

Yes, it totally works. I had a pair of decent batteries in a pick-up of mine I have at a friends farm. After 4 years sitting dead (4 Alberta winters did em in) I brought them home and did the epsom salt thing. I then charged them at the high setting for a few hours, then switched to trickle for overnight. Next morning I again went to high amp charge for a little while...then let the battery rest for a few hours. When I began the battery had less than 5 volts, and I think the second one was worse.

After the battery rested for a few hours, I checked voltage and it was pretty steady at 12.4 volts. A few days later it had dropped a little, so I charged it again, just on the trickle charge. After a few days of charging and checking the battery held a charge at 12.65 volts. I stuck it in my Blazer and forgot about it. A year later and several starts of the Blazer but no real significant run time I sold the Blazer with the rescued battery still in it. It started like a champ.

I have the second rescued battery in my garage. I haven't checked it in a while.

I have had mixed success with this. I think it depends on what condition the plates in the battery are in, how corroded etc they are.

I've have the Canadian Tire MotoMaster Eliminator version of the following battery charger (below link) / bought it a decade ago, for $99.99 on sale.

- often a bad battery will stall to fully charge at 70% recovery

- alternate between charge & de-sulfate mode 2-3x and often a Full charge (100%), can be achieved

- older battery can stall to fully charge at 55% &<70% recovery range / need to trick battery, to take a digital charge (fancy machine, don't work below 70%)

- so back to my 40 year old conventional charger (from CTC), for up to an hour / next de-sulfate mode / and top up with digital charger

Cheers, Larry
