Front Inner Fender Well

Hey Beaumont gurus. Just got a 69 Beaumont for my wife a couple of weeks ago and Im trying to make it pretty for her. Does anyone know if Chevelle inner fenders will work in the Beaumont? Its also missing the cowl vent cover so I need to know if Chevelle or Lemans panels are interchangeable. Also looking for pics of the stock interior, as it seems like some trim is missing from the rear seat panels where it comes up to the door. If anyone could share their insights - best places to buy from, tips, advice - Id be very greatfull! Not much good weather left so Ive got to get busy before the snow flys. Thanks! Perry

Thanks! Heres the disclaimer - shes good from far but far from good ! Its a good start & it should show much better by mid next summer. The weather (as you know) has been crap lately & my son has the garage tied up with his baby (77 Corvette he bought when he was 15). Plan to give it a good tuneup & new aluminum radiator should be here any day. Then out for a new rear end as previous owner welded the spool.  18 wheels  & tires after that. Hoping to accumulate some needed parts over winter. I need expert advice though, on where to shop & how things should look.

Welcome to the site. Yes the Chevelle inner fenders are the same. As is the cowl vent covers.  Chevelle  interior items are the same also. Except the dash of course . A Beaumont custom would be the same as Malibu interior trim level And the Beaumont deluxe same as chevelle deluxe . I see your 69 has a 68 grill and headlight bezels. may be something else to look for in the future. Nice to see another 69 beaumont owner on here.

By cowl vent cover, are you referring to the screen on the external top of the cowl?

The screens on the cowl seem to be hit and miss. I worked on these cars in the early 70s and some had screens and some didnt. Even some of the GM cars that I owned didnt have the screens, and the holes had never had screws in them. Maybe if the plant ran out of stock of the screens the line wasnt shut down. That would explain why some dont have the screens.

Thanks for the reply. Im pretty sure this should have them but Ill have to double check for screw holes. If they are available Id like to get some as it makes the car look unfinished. Im looking for recommendations to restoration parts sources for these cars since they dont seem very common. I guess the thill is in the hunt!

I've seen my share of A body cars with a cowl screen made from something like chicken wire (a wire mesh with about 1/4" squares). The first time I saw one I figured it was handmade, but I've seen quite a number of them. Is that factory?

I've also seen some with a molded plastic piece similar to what's on my 70 B body cars.

Thanks for the replies. Cole - if those parts are in very good condition Id be interested. I want to improve the look / performance of the car with anything I do, so I would rather have incorrect bezels & grill that look great than correct ones that are rough. Do you have any pics you could send me or I could check them out if theyre in good shape? Thanks!

Yes it is factory with the metal screens. I think the correct name of the material is 1/4 inch hardware cloth.

Just checked my 69 and it does not have the cowl screens. The holes for the screen mounting screws look like the never had screws in them.

Hey all. Just thought I'd give an update on the cowl vent screen. Half the battle is just figuring out what they are called, as I was able to get some from Eckler's Chevelle (PN:50-204538-1) . Just put them in on the weekend & they fit perfectly. Snap right in with no screws required & look great. Fit '68-'72.

the repro  cowl screens are plastic. Also the one for an AC car is different from a non AC car.

Didn't know that. Yes they were plastic but seem to be good quality and way better keeping the leaves out than the absent ones were .
