Old Dog, new trick
(
1 2
)
(Preview)
As you may know I have several 69 big cars (including a Canadian 2+2). Despite having found an NOS nose and one nice used one on eBay over the years I still can't give all my cars a nice nose piece so I'm trying a new twist;building a sheetmetal shell to replace the original "rubber" mat'l. I took a comple...

Just found the pic, no idea what the story is. But it looks to me like they're standing right next to a big puddle of gasoline!

Anybody heard about the possibility of special or unique black paint finishes for 1966?
(Preview)
I've long heard that black was not easy to work with for some reason. Maybe it showed flaws too much? Maybe it was expensive? Or maybe it just wasn't in style at certain times? There sure weren't many black cars around 1966 era. One particular thing I'm looking into re black paint is something I was told a...

Clint's Silver Paint Marker Secret
(Preview)
A while back Clint kindly sold me some interior trim pieces and even included a marker to properly retouch the silver/chrome interior trim on it. I later used that marker to touch up an NOS dash cluster, and it was pretty close to perfect, so thought I would share the link I found when searching for rep...

Door switch - Whoops pulled the wires off!
(Preview)
I was monkeying with wires under the dash and managed to pop the two wire connectors off the back of the passenger jamb switch (I have a courtesy light option so two wires). Is there an easy way to reconnect them? Or do I have to remove the switch and start over more or less?

Side Project: EFI
(Preview)
Now that I've got the red 2+2 off to the body shop, and the shop mostly cleaned up, I need a new project. Not buying any new cars, so that means "fixing" an old one, but nothing's broken, so that means it's time for a change! To that end, I had my black 2+2 restored probably 12 or more years ago and have been ke...

Hood Insulation - Keep or Toss?
(Preview)
When my car was restored they installed the underhood insulation package. Although seen on the US cars, and while our hood does have the holes for the retainer clips, so far as I know it was never available in Canada, not even on the Grade Parisienne. It's starting to fall down from time to time and I'm a...

Testing the key minder switch
(Preview)
I know most people try to disable the thing, but I want all of my car to work like new, so I have rebuilt the column. I can't tell whether the key minder switch is working properly though. It's got two little brass terminals that come out of it but the continuity between them doesn't seem to correlate to w...

Console woodgrains
(Preview)
The one on the right is my red 2+2 convertible, and the one on the left is the "best I could find at the time" on my black coupe. Obviously the wood grain pattern is totally different. I'm wondering if anyone recognizes the left as perhaps a 1968? Or was it reprinted inaccurately at some point?

1969 Rear Door light
(Preview)
This is, I assume, intended for taxi cabs and maybe police cars. I've never actually seen one, though the GM part numbers are all there, so someone could likely assembly such a setup! Round light left of the defog switch, it looks like! Inserting the image appears to fail, so unless someone can fix tha...

What are these? I need them...
(Preview)
And the winner of the "first part I probably should have saved from the Catalina but didn't know I needed" will be this bumper filler piece (though it may not be on the US cars). Does anyone know what it's called, if I have any shot of getting news ones? My black car (pictured) has them but they're actuall...

Can't buy gas!
(Preview)
It's been problematic for years but as of about 2 years ago, with the local vapor recovery nozzles here in WA, I have a LOT of trouble trying to dispense fuel into my 69. It "clicks back" almost immediately, and it takes a long time to even put $10 in the car. Very frustrating. I've tried the obvious (dif...

Any electronics geeks know how the Low Fuel light works?
(Preview)
My 69 Laurentian had the warning lamp group that included the "Low Fuel" light. It's a fairly cool feature - when fuel gets very low, the light comes on dimly. It then glows more and more brightly as fuel gets lower and lower. There appears to be a little circuit on the back of the cluster that accompl...

1966 283 water pump for Parisienne
(Preview)
Hi Guys. Getting the 66 on the road soon. Car is at family member's house so I can't check it out right now. I need a new water pump for the time being, until I can get the original one rebuilt. I don't know if I need part # 55-11142 (TWO OUTLET) or part # 55-11167 (ONE OUTLET). I'm hoping somebody can give me go...

My third favorite Parisienne
(Preview)
Drove this for a winter in college in the 80s/90s. Just your basic Parisienne. For some reason I put the powertrain in a 1974 Pontiac and later scrapped the result. I was a kid! Also pictured is the blue 2+2 that I parted out to get the seats and so on for my black car. Just found these old photos!
