Exhaust tips...
(Preview)
Next week the 67 goes in for duals. The tips are very important to me in how they exit. From the side, I do not want to see any of the pipe as it runs along side the frame under the trunk pan. I think it should then turn down and out to the side directly under the backup lens...or should it turn straight down? I...

Tail pipe location on 67 Parisienne
(Preview)
The tail pipe ends just behind the LHS rear door, and I get exhaust in the cabin when stopped with the windows down. I expect it was rerouted to accommodate a big tow bar that I removed when I bought the car. I want to run it straight to the back of the car. Anyone know of any problems if I do so?

I'll be having a dual exhaust system installed on my 67 Grand Parisienne in a week or so. Aluminized 2 1/2", "H" pipe (crossover) and tailpipes all the way to the back. I'm looking to give the car just a little bit of attitude. Nothing really loud, but not so hushed as to make no sound at al...

awful racket under the hood
(Preview)
This morning going to the car show in Lindsay, I was almost parked and a noise started. At idle is was a loud tick, and got exponentially worse with a little throttle. (This is a 454 LS6 crate engine.) I sure got lots of opinions on what is was, from a bad plug to a fuel pump to a bent pushrod. I decided to get my...

Checked my oil pressure using a mechanical gauge
(Preview)
I've been worried about the small block in my Laurentian being a little tired. The reason for this is I get a little bit of blue smoke when first started and some smoke when I get hard on it (hard to tell if it's blue when I do this). The cluster gauge always read really low-almost nothing at idle. So, tonigh...

Quadrajet issue...
(Preview)
As a few of you know, I rebuilt my 67 Quadrajet myself a while back. For the most part, it went well. A couple of weeks ago I complained of the engine falling flat on the top at wot. Well, she runs sweet now, right to the top until you hear the pipes really start to bark. The little 327 runs better now than it p...

Finally, a little bit of attitiude that it really needed! To save a few bucks I went with a China made Flowmaster 40 knockoff, actually a Dynomax Thrush welded muffler. 2 1/2 inch all the way back with a crossover. Welded the heat riser open. Very crisp sounding but relatively quiet at cruise. A really...

Engine lays flat at wot.

Wide open throttle. Level ground. Revs building up into the top rpm range..my 327 starts to suddenly and abruptly fall flat. Backing off slightly brings it back to power but it won't accept wot. The engine feels like it's ready to go up way further in rpm but it can't. No tach. No way near max rpm. En...

Leaking valve cover. Gimmie your wisdom.
(Preview)
Ok, it's a simple problem right? A leaking 67 SB Valve cover. Originally it wept at the back (as they all do), eventually making its way down the block to the road. I removed both covers and very, very carefully cleaned and prepped both the head and cover gasket surfaces. I then put a small bead of high t...
