And not even damage from it coming down the chimney...

I put the passenger side quarter on yesterday and fixed the shortness of it. I still have to splice in a piece below the body line but that won't be too bad. The hard work on the car is done and it is just about ready to go on the rotisserie to be finished, hopefully my door skins will be here this week so I can get rid of the rusty ones and it will be rust free.
So I bought those blue fenders a couple of years ago before I really started to do bodywork but I had already ordered the patch panels for these fenders. I decided it would be easier to patch the fenders then mess around with redrilling and measuring for all the SD trim. I will admit it was a pain, I had this fender on and off a dozen times and I lengthened it, shortened it and finally found a fit I was happy with.
I am waiting on parts to finish the fenders so I started on the doors. I don't know who did the bodywork last time but what a hack. They took 16 gauge sheet metal and welded it to the body line, right over the existing door and rust, and then folded it over on edges and mudded it. I probably dumped 30# of extra weight on each door. I don't know if I can fix the rust in the shells though, it maybe above my skill level, and I don't have any sheet metal English wheel type tools. Wish me luck on this one.

The advice to try hard to find different doors is great advice. You won't regret it if you can find better to work with. You set yourself up for trouble by fixing those.

Thats awesome body work . you are saving big bucks by doing that yourself .
Thx Carl, lot of first going on here, lol, minor filler needed on drivers side.
At first I thought you were going to put a roof on it! Nice work....keep it up.
Do you want some original dealer installed body side mouldings? I have a roll left from 1967 .
Thx but just going to run the SD moldings.
Thank God .
Haha, you like the extra one the car had, wasn't sure if you were serious.
Thx, never stop trying is the motto.
My Christmas present showed up today.

I really wanted a cowl but the SS ones are nice too.
Oh, personally I'd say this is a way better choice. The cowl is just too "new" for this car.
Put the front end on today to ensure my door skin alignment when they show up.

Good work...... wish I could have done body work .
So I finished up the passenger side rear and started on driver side rear, I have front sections coming and I will fix the rusty fronts also.
