Those hood's make these car's. My '75 Grand Am has the same hood and is the same colour, white. White seemed to be the most popular colour.

No one ever stopped to look at my car before I had the scooped hood. The hood is like a magnet and I see plenty of people taking photos of it when I take the car to cruise ins. I have to say it's a weird design but it sure starts conversations. I run mine without the honeycomb block off plates, I have a mesh grille in each one to permit maximum air flow.

Pontiac did many thing's well but they alway's seemed to get their hood's right. I think they made some of the best in the industry. Your right, people love to stop and look at these hood's and if they have a camera they seem to go nut's with the picture taking!

I heard, that all the Canadian Lemans GT's with 454, got that hood!!!
I also heard, they only built 1 prototype, and it was so fast, they did not go into production... No one knows where the prototype went ?
I heard it was blue

All '75 Lemans GT's had the NASA hood regardless of engine option. It was part of the "GT" package. In '74 the hood was an option for the "GT" package. Not sure how it worked in '73. This hood was only available from '73-'75. The hood could also be ordered without the "GT" option package.

Ya I heard that too Carl about the 454 and I was fortunate enough to uncover a copy of the sales brochure and engine specs. I also have a rough idea of where this car is located.

Only until we open the hood.........heard that that the LS4 454 at 270 HP and 390 ft lbs was going to be offered as a replacement for the SD455 which was a late cancellation in the LeMans line. GM Canada figured using the Corvette big block would nearly meet the performance of the SD. Plans were made to go with it but again 11th hour cancellation as Chevrolet and Pontiac Divisons got wind of this and internal politics was brought to bear on GM Canada. Chevrolet couldn't agree to allowing a Pontiac to outperfom it's own Chevelle SS and Pontiac did not want a Chevrolet powered Pontiac that could outperfom it's US LeMans with the less HP the Pontiac 400 and 455 and since GTO was being built in Oshawa as an option on 2 door Colonade and Sport Coupe Pontiac made it clear in no uncertaion terms that heads would roll if the 454 found it's way into a GTO.

As much as I love Canadian Pontiac (Chevy) big blocks Ray, I don't think there was ever any danger of a 70's low compression 454 outperforming an SD 455.

Well in actual fact the Chevy 454 has a higher compressin ratio than the SD455.

Before I say too much I'll look at some road tests but I seriously doubt I'll find a test anywhere close to a 13.54 like the Firebird ran.

And yes, the SD455 was truly a "smogger" engine except in the area of performance.
I put it on my car today ... Thanks Carl !
it's great when hoarders share !
Nice!
Thanks for the laugh Rog!!!
