Well... After x4 months and over 150hrs of laying on my floor creeper, enduring flash arch to my eyes (on many occasions) and one trip to the ER to remove a steel splinter in my eye. I finally finished a project that I procrastinated accomplishing. The trunk on my car has never had a proper restoration, it's been badly neglected over the years. After seeing just how badly the original body mounts had deteriorated last summer, I decided the rotten body mount issue could no longer be ignored further.
Dale at NOS supplied the new trunk body mounts and new rubber body bushings (and new trunk floor mat)
I began by replacing all x12 body bushings (what a chore) Luckily...the only x2 bolts that snapped/broke were the mounts I replaced.
A previous owner performed a "questionable" rust repair on this area many years ago, and then coated it with thick tar and rubberized undercoating. This awful mess caused me so much grief and time cleaning it all off. (gasoline + acetone)
The next stage of this project will continue at the bodyshop. I'm having the entire trunk blasted and painted original Bolero Red.
I'll continue to update this thread as more progress pics become available.
Congrats on a job well done. I hope you have gained a major sense of accomplishment after the 4months of pain and suffering.

Yes 427carl, I'm having a shop soda blast the remaining untouched areas, and apply the trunk body color paint. (I haven't figured out how to prevent dust/dirt from entering the interior when I removing the back seat)
I contemplated removing the entire trunk (and install a x1 piece aftermarket replacement. Might have been quicker? But instead chose to retain as much of the original 18 gauge sheet metal as possible.

I can appreciate what you did, last spring , I finished up the 70 Lemans convertible I'm doing..the same type of repair....just more of it... did it on my back too...bought the rotisserie at the end of the project....!

Thanks for all the compliments guys! It may not have been the most enjoyable project to tackle, but feals good to receive the positive feedback. ...Now it's time to tackle a ton of "go fast stuff" that's waiting in boxes to install before the Penticton show. ;o)

Nice job Kyle. Very impressive as it looks like quite a challenge. Good to know now when you pour the power to it the body will stay with you. Surprising what is hiding down there on your beautiful car.
