Thanks for confirming guys... really appreciate the advice.
Regarding the paint between the ribs on a 67 Beaumont, I'm under the impression no paint was applied? (OR possibly painted light grey like the tail light trim).
(I currently have cheap Chevelle repos installed on my car)

^^^^ Beaumont rocker moldings are painted light grey like the tail light trim...IMO that's correct Kyle.
- at least that's how my NOS pair came into my procession painted, last year
- ordered from GM, 25 years ago (story goes) and a guy had never used them...'67 Beaumont long gone, and the pair of trim stored in the rafters of his garage, all that time
I couldn't believe my luck - I make arrangements to buy a left NOS 1/4 panel (ordered in '83), so drive there and seller said:

I've been following this thread and wondering about the correct beaumont rocker trim colour... Larry has a NOS Beaumont rocker trim, with charcoal painted between the ribs, which is the same colour for the 67 Chevelle SS rocker trim... I'd suspect anyone who has a lighter version is just a peice that is showing wear.
anyone have a nos Beaumont peice that is different? I replaced mine in '88 with GM ones that are also charcoal, my original ones are up in the attic at my dads, one day I'll dig them up to try to find any traces of paint colour.

My 67 didn't show any paint but car was 12 years old when I bought it with new paint and new top for 2950.00
I think the paint wore off pretty quick on the original peices... Maybe this weekend I'll get a chance to check out my old ones, you would think if they were grey there would traces of the paint.

I once asked Don Earnshaw about the correct paint color. (original owner of a 67SD & President of the Chevelles & Beaumont Car Club). He indicated that his rockers had absolutely no paint, and didn't ever remember there being paint between the grooves when he bought the car back in '67.

My brother checked my old ones out for me, and he says they look unpainted...maybe I'll get out there this weekend. So interesting that Larrys NOS peice is the same as a Chevelle...did they run out of unpainted ones and replacements were the same as chevelles...or maybe a mid year change? Dons car is a later build I believe...hmmm...good to hear a first hand account.

I had 4 NOS 67 Chevelle rocker trims... every one was painted differently... some grey some black. One was a really HEAVY mettalic grey. All were purchased from GM and in the original paper backed packages.

This is the GM #3904584 on my Beaumont NOS rocker trim. - if some one has both the Chevelle & Beaumont parts book, I wonder if the numbers are identical or different in 1967 ??

Carl, can post the part numbers for 66 and 67 Beaumont/Chevelle and all models. I think the non SS 66 Chevelle had the same ones as the 66 SD Beaumont

66 Custom 3886238 left 3886237 right
67 SD 5729265 left 5729266 right
66 SS 3886231 left 3886232 right
67 300 Deluxe 3904585 left 3904586 right
67 Malibu & SS 3904583 left 3904584 right
I don't know my Chevelles all that well but I didn't think 67 300 Deluxe used a rocker molding. The parts book says otherwise though.

Andrew - I took a look at my badly disintegrated GM packing, on the '67 NOS rockers.
- just says MLDG & part #, no year or vehicle application listed
Carl - thanks for the list of part numbers...appears mine were ordered for a Beaumont, and Chevelle pair shipped instead (25 years ago).
- if memory serves me correctly, back in the 1980's I had the local dealer run a few Beaumont #'s
- 1967 SD rockers were N/A, so substituting SS ones probably very common
-----------------
As Beaumont SD rockers had a different part # than Chevelle SS, in 1967...anyone know the exact differences, profile &/or color/lack of ??
- what is 100% factory correct, for a '67 Sport Deluxe
Interesting debate here...every bit of info. helps.

Hi just thought I'd follow up on this thread now that I dug my old ones out. They have no paint, and no remnants of there ever being any paint along the entire length. I took these off my car (an early build SD) about 30 years ago, I did paint the bottom edge black since they were showing wear, and a year later I replaced them with chevelle repops.
Here's a pic for reference, very shiny in between the ribs. ak

Likely safe to say they came bare then.
Cool to have old guys on here who've owned their cars a long time to show stuff like this!!!!! (A little jab there Andrew!)
Hi guys,
Are 66 Chevelle SS rockers moldings identical on 67 SS models???
I'm closely watching a pair of NOS 66 moldings for sale on evil bay right now...
(I'm assuming paint stripper will remove the black paint between the grooves?)
...Your thoughts?
1966 & 67 Chevelle rocker moldings are in fact different...if I recall: one has 6 ribs, other has 8 ribs.
- but I can't recall from memory, which year & rib #
1966 Beaumont Custom rocker molding, don't have several ribs...I don't know if '66 SD & Custom are the same or not.
The 1967 Chevelle SS molding profile are the same as '67 Sport Deluxe, except for the underlying paint code.
- I could go the shop & have a look later, as I have a pair of used '66 Chevelle & '67 Beaumont NOS rocker trim in GM wrapers...to compare

THE '66 CHEVELLE "SS" ROCKER MOLDINGS DO HAVE MORE RIBS THEN '67 "SS" ROCKER MOLDINGS DO
