There's the proof why we see so many Pontiacs in vintage Canadian photos. It's also interesting to note Studebaker outsold quite a few domestic models.

Glory days for sure.
The VW was quite the success as well. It's no wonder we saw so many home made dune buggies down here rippin the fields in the late 60's early 70's.

I find Rambler surprising at #5. I guess the old Rambler slogan "Live a little. Drive a Rambler!" held true for a lot of folks!

Not to mention Valiant being #4. It outsold Chevy II and Acadian combined, by a factor of 2!

No surprise to me. My first car was a 66 Valiant. Built like a tank with a 225 slant 6 that never let me down.
That was the best car I've ever owned!

To me the big surprise was #53, the Tempest. I can't imagine why anyone would go out of their way, have the hassle of getting a Tempest unless that includes Lemans and GTO which it very likely could.

Ive read Pontiac full size was the best selling car in Canada in 1963 too. I wonder how many years this happened?
Thanks for the list, very interesting things on it.

what stands out for me is the number of Corvettes sold at 210
it explains why i saw so few corvettes when i was growing up in the 1960s
just as a reference the population of Canada in 1964 was 19.3 milion. ( per google) 200 ish corvettes translates to i car per 100,000 population( I did the math ... with a calculator)
I grew up in Thunder Bay- for the longest time i( pretty well all of the 1960s)ts population was 107,000- meaning their share of the Corvette pie would be 1
an interesting point of comparison is the Austin healey sales of 622. I had an older cousin who was into those cars - he had a couple of bugeye sprites and a 3000. He loved them (to the point that he drove them year round ) but he admits he was working on them all the time
Calendar year auto sales list photo I found last night. Interesting.
Glory days for sure.
