Here is my ride. I picked this up from Texas a year ago and got it on the road in the spring after a new paint job. It is almost all original and only needs a few minor repairs to the interior to liven it up a bit. My Dad had a 60 Strato Chief when I was growing up and I always wanted one of my own. Finding a rust free 60 Pontiac from the U.S. was easier than locally, plus there is the benefit of 100% Pontiac under the body. The 389 is strong and the 4 speed hydramatic is in tip top shape. This is one enjoyable ride!
Nice Star Chief! I had a 60 Catalina also from Texas. It still wore it's original paint. It also had the 389 Hydramatic. I regret selling it. I saw it last year for sale in BC. It had been "bagged and slammed", custom painted, big wheels and the mint original interior was replaced with custom leather :( Here's a pic when I owned it: Todd
Actually I'm glad it's still around. I was a little bummed to hear the interior was replaced. However the more I look at it, the more I like it. That air cleaner is interesting. Todd

Ha ha, I feel the same way, but have decided over the years to not stress over things I can't control. Once I sell a car it no longer belongs to me, so I can't worry about it as it's none of my business what the next owner does with it.
I've seen some cases where nice 4 door cars have been cut up to save 2-doors and convertibles - it would irk me if I meticulously preserved a nice 4-door for years just to see it cut up to save some other car... but there's nothing I could do about it, so why stress?
Besides, in the end I've figured out the car hobby is all about money - if something is cheap it gets no respect. If doing something may ruin its authenticity but will not decrease its value - then authenticity doesn't matter, only value.
It's the way of the world, my friend, and there's nothing we can do about it.
That's one car I wish I had kept. I even had a correct date coded tri power intake and a set of NOS Hedman headers with exhaust dumps. I wanted to make a period Super Stock clone out of it. This may have upset some folks but those mods would have been easy to reverse.
Todd, that would have been cool, but maybe then Canadian Poncho would not have gotten its start?
I dont have a problem with modifying cars, really. I hare to see a totally undisturbed survivor get messed with but its not the end of the world. I do think for the most part, once they are changed they will never be put back to original, but so be it. Once petroleum is outlawed nobody will get to enjoy them anyhow.
Here's a really short video I did of the car back when I sold it. The potential buyer lived near Barrie and asked for a video of the car before driving down to see it. This was around 2000 and the only thing I had to make a video was a toy video camera my son had! I had to use an open source program to convert the video to an Mpeg. It had a crappy microphone which is why the exhaust sounds so raspy at the beginning..
Wow, it was beautiful just as it was. It's frustrating when a good one gets away. I've similarly regretted decisions to sell over the years. One always thinks they'll get something better next time, but it's not always the case.
Regardless, it's all water under the bridge now, and perhaps the next great car is just waiting out there for you!
Theres a 60 2 door I like near by but it needs alot, sure would be nice but it needs a complete interior for starters..would be nice if the fellow decided to sell the one that was in yours Todd..always have a soft spot for the 60 my dad used to take us to school in his,but it was a 4 door
