Decent Car Stereo

I picked up a car stereo from Canadian Tire a couple of months ago for my truck. I liked it so much I bought a second one to hide in my Laurentian (gotta keep the 8 track too!). It's a Nextar NCU103. Pic:

The neat thing about this deck is it has both an SD card slot and a USB port. You can load all your songs onto an SD card or a USB memory stick. I bought a 2 gig SD card at Staples for 20 bucks. I have close to 200 songs, all sorted in directories named after the artist. You can browse by directory or song name, or set the deck to random (which is what I typially do). With 2 gigs, it will be a long time before I fill it up. There is also a remote and an aux jack for your IPOD. I like the idea of not having to keep CD's in my vehicle. I can simply remove the SD card from one deck and plug it into another. More and more electronics have SD slots (my dvd player has one so I can plug my card into it and listen to music on my surround sound. My portible MP3 player also has an SD slot). The sound quality is impressive and the features are extensive. The nice thing is CT has put this deck on sale for $69 (reg $149) on two occasions since December (that's when I bought mine). The deck also has a removeable face. Well worth the money especially when it's on sale.

When I got my new pickup it had XM radio so now I'm hooked. In my avatar pic you will see a black 55 F__d sedan. That car was 6 volt so rather than switch over the radio I put XM in it too. When the car is in hibernation the XM is in my shop. I can't remember that last time I listened to a radio station, CD or my ipod.
That sounds like an interesting radio though.

I also have XM (it's also doing winter service in my garage) but sometimes I like to play my faves. They just don't play enough classic ZZ Top on XM :)

that sounds like the deck for me! I need to hide it in the glove box though, my 59 is radio delete and has a piece of metal the same as the dash where the radio goes. I would like to find out more on how many of my particular cars were made and what the different options were but i cant find any info. If any of you guys know were i could find this that would be awesome, and yeah, ya gotta have some ZZ Top tunes!! (i used to play a couple in some of the bands i was in)

You can get the info from GM historical. I believe you can get the info for 59's. I don't have the number handy. Numbers_Guy on here has it memorized.. I'm sure he can post it and verify that you can go as far back as 59..

On that note, I have a couple of odd OEM radios.

One is an AM/FM mono that came out of a '76 Parisienne and the other is an AM/FM Delco that appears to have come out of a mid 60's Pontiac, judging by the knobs on it.
