Yeah i bought grumpys. Its rough, but i couldnt pass up on a 2 door wagon. For now i was just gonna get it running and rat it out, but nothing structually damaging. just typical flat black, loud and low. Eventually i will do a real nice resto on it, but its far from seeing that day. If ya hear of some parts availble out there or no of a parts car around let me know.
Oshawa??? Package??? Delivery car??? So far ive just been lookin stuff up on the net, but there is next to zero info out there about the 2 door wagon. only that they exist.

If you would like more information about the history of your 2 dr stationwagon contact Rheal Larose a writer for Old Autos. Rheal was born ,raised and worked in Kirkland Lake and knows the history of hundreds of cars from that area. He will know the grocery store and probably the owner of the store. He is pretty busy currently as he has accepted a transfer to Ottawa with his job. If you want his phone number email me . Al
Hey , I had a chevy 60 tudor. Was my first car. I was 14 & I bought it from my math teacher for 20 bucks. Had a 6 and 3 on the tree. I drove it a bit and flipped it for $ 150 , my first cash deal ! Shouldnt have been driving with no license or insurance maybe ??
I have a couple of these super rare 2 door StratoChief wagons - most were powered by the GMC truck 6 banger and 3 on the tree - from what I was told a lot of these were sold to the Canadian government - most of the sheet metal on a Canadian Pontiac is actually quite different than a state side Pontiac - for instance, the hood is about 2 inches shorter even though it looks like it is the same as a state side Pontiac - these 2 door wagons are perfect candidates for an elCamino pickup conversion since the frames, floors, and door length is the same - the conversion only requires adding the elCamino bed edge chrome strips, the door window framing and of course adding the elCamino roof - there are several state side Pontiac elCamino conversions, but none are "on the mark" as these are still on state side frames and suspensions and have Pontiac engines - I am building a Pontiac elCamino (elPoncho) and will post pictures when completed - it will be totally authentic just like Pontiac of Canada would have built in 1960 - 348 with a 4 speed - LOVE Canadian Pontiacs! - also have '63 Parisienne bucket seat convertible (283 powerglide), '65 Parisienne "Sport" bucket seat convertible (409-400HP 4 speed) and '70 2+2 bucket seat convertible (LS6 454-450HP turbohydramatic) - Chuck in South Dakota

Welcome to the site Chuck. It sounds like you have some very neat cars - need more info on this one for sure! (from a fellow 70 owner with only the lowly LS4). What engine did this convertible originally come with? Options? Pictures?

WOW - what a quick response! - my '70 2+2 convertible was originally a 454-???HP factory car - block was cracked when I bought it in Omaha Nebraska (from a Kansas City collector) - it had a mystery big block installed - I do have the original factory block but decided that a LS6 450HP would be a much better motivator - I installed a LS6 crate engine and all authentic parts so even the most hardened critic would have a tough time finding something wrong - with deep differential gears and a shift kit in the turbohydramatic the 2+2 is a real street rocket - it sure surprises the kids piloting Japanese cars with chain saw mufflers! - I am creating a website this winter for picture posting and will let the forum know how to tap on - one real odd fact on this 2+2 is that it was ordered in "Orbit Orange" from the factory which is a GTO Judge color - as much as I like authenticity the orange had to go so it is now black with black roof and the original factory tan interior - Chuck
There are quite a few of us on this site who know that car, in fact one of the members on here actually found that car for Larry. It was the cover/feature article car in the POCI magazine Smoke Signals about 7-8 years ago, I'll have to see if I dig up that issue.
Can't wait to see the pics!

You guys have great memories - my '70 2+2 454 convertible was previously owned by Larry Kosek from Kansas - I spotted it at the Omaha Pontiac show many years ago and negotiated a sale on the spot - after we stripped the paint we discovered quite a bit of rust bites and body filler - we could not find good Canadian quarter panels, even from a salvage car, so we had a metal shaping expert build quarters using state side Pontiac panels as a start - it was quite a remodel job but the match is perfect - actually, the rear quarters resemble '70 Impalas in shape more so than a '70 Catalina - of course, the sheet metal length measurements are all the same as an Impala so very little state side Pontiac items are the same - although this 2+2 was factory painted GTO Orbit Orange I just could not warm up to restoring it that color - so we painted it black and installed a black convertible top - the tan interior was in great shape so that was not touched - the LS6 engine supplies plenty of gitta up and go since the 2+2 is a rather light weight - not near as heavy as a state side Catalina - we are still researching the conversion of a '60 Strato Chief 2 door wagon into an "elPoncho" pickup - updates on that project as it progresses will be posted - BLESSINGS to all - Chuck in South Dakota
