Picked up my carb from the Carburetor Rebuilders in Toronto. They did a great job restoring it. Totally gone through and everything replated. I would recommend them to anyone. Great to deal with. 7029215 early production so there is no date stamp in the body. The date was stamped in the base.
That thing looks beautiful, much more impessive than modern fuel injection too. A rochestor Q-jet has to be one of the best carbs ever invented, just going by the sheer # of the things that ever came on GM cars and trucks!
Thanks. They did a great job restoring it. I wish I had before and after pictures. I should be a little more on the ball. I can't wait to get the correct motor in my car and get this puppy bolted on. I currently have a 1970 780 Holley to go with the rest of the "day two" parts.
I know a guy that has one from a 1972 402 chevy-he had it completely rebuilt from holley (its a quad) for an automatic still in the box I think he'll sell for $250 thats less than getting it done
What do they charge for that Brad? Can you just send parts for refinishing?
I think they are $350 to do the complete carb. I am not sure if they will just do the replating. Mine needed some extra work so it was a little more. The pictures do not do their work justice. I have seen some other carbs that have been redone and they did not have the detail. Here is the contact info for them.

I got a 396+ 60 supplied and done by D&D in winchester, ON. They said they have more 396's so this maybe a place to look for your engine, Henry. http://www.danddperformance.ca/
