Any 1 remeber the phoenix's?

hey all
just wondering if any 1 remebers the phoneix's produced between 77-79 after the ventura's?
im building a street/strip 78 it was a pretty easy project, but finding parts was the hardest part.
the 2 pic's there are of the car just taken yesterday, after a years worth of work done the pictures cant explain the hundreds of hours and dollars invested into the car so far.
here's my car domain paige with a little more in depth info:

IF ANY 1 KNOWS WHERE I CAN FIND A HOOD PLEASE EMAIL ME AT:
dumb_ass_dagenais@hotmail.com

i hope posting this brought back some memories because i cant remeber the last time i've ever seen a phoenix.
let me know what ya think of it so far!

haha not to prey on the old but allot of the older people i have talked to remeber these cars or even had 1..but back in 78 they were just a gas saver student/grandma's car..all of the people around here have never even heard let alone seen a phoenix, i cant wait to finish the project just so i can get even more "oh's and aw's"
happy gearing!

I remember the second gen, X body ones. But I can't recollect your style.
A buddy had a second gen, and beat the crap out of it. It really held up pretty good considering!

Shouldn't a Nova hood be the same as that?

not even close, the nova does not have a header panel so the hood has a lip that folds down, where the phoenix having a header panel has a straigh hood lip

In high school I had a 4 dr 78, buick V6 auto, collapsed a piston in the buick, so put in the 250 L6 and 3spd standard from my Nova parts car. T handle floor shifter, Cragar SS wheels. Most thought it was a 4spd with that floor shifter. I thought it was neat at the time.wink

my brother bought a brand new 79 Phoenix from Kipp Scotts in Red Deer with a 305 and a 4speed. Man that 4speed saginaw didnt last long, he bent the gears on the countershaft doing a speedshift, and the GM dealer in 3hills wouldnt warranty it because of abuse.... go figure ??

i used to have an extremley rare 78 pheonix, it was called a shark. the shark stickers in the front fenders were in the shape of a shark. factory 2dr hatch, 350 4bbl 4 speed saginaw, with factory hust shifter, bench seat that was notched out for the shifter, duals, and rally rims. this was all factory. i,ve never seen another. or even heard of another. i would be curious as to how many of those were made

Looks good!.

I remember fixing lots of these back in the day including one I clipped that was a Nova on the front but a Phoenix rear, tailights trim etc..

I'd have to look it up but don't hoods from one of the other 75-79 X-cars w/ header panels fit?.
Olds Omega, Buick Skylarks etc...and dont forget Caddy Sevilles were really X-Body cars too!.

And '78 Grand Ams were cool cars Ken but full frame A-Body cars, not these X-Body cars w/ subframes etc.

I remember when the word NOVA meant N=Nova, O=Omega, V=Ventura and A=Apollo...then they added too many trim options w/ other names and it went out the window!.

Good luck!.

Well that's just wrong!!!

Why would they install a 4 speed that's not meant for speedshifting.......

My first car was a 1983 2 door. All I had to replace in 4 years was a heater core. It was a great car, other than a bit of "morning sickness" with the power steering.

One of the magazines, Car Craft I believe, had a Phoenix project car for a few issues. ( magazine dates-late 70's-or very early 80's.)
