Quarter panel sport deluxe script

I am the third owner of a gm doc. 67 sport deluxe. the sport deluxe script on the quarter panel is not block letters like some i have seen, it has the written script on it. now , there are two cars in this area with the same written script on the car like mine. I also have pics  from the first owner of the car with the script on. plus he says it came factory with that sript on it. Has anyone else heard of this? Is this because these cars were an early build?

When was your car assembled?  Should be a date on cowl tag  Example 1-2-23
Never heard of this, but now i am very curious.

Build date Mar 14 1967. Maybe the dealer put on diferant script.I think the other cars came from saskatoon too. also in the 64 to 69  beaumont parts catalog No. 692R .  the picture showing the script is written, not printed.
Any ideas?

Not an early car.  If your car was built in Sept 66, i would have believed it, stranger things have happened.  So, that rules out that theory.
NOo sure what to think, maybe they were damaged or broken and the dealer replaced with the old 66 scripts?

Also of note:   if you had an SD car with the side stripes, you did not get the emblems.  Prehaps, some of the quarter "sport deluxe" emblems were in fact dealer installed in some cases.

Just a couple educated guesses,  hope it helps

Thanks for the input. I don't know what to think.  three cars from the same dealer, all with the same script , If I had the stripe option, it should show up on my option printout ?

Just saw this old post Hammer396.

Yes, the stripe option would show on your GM documents.

I'm with beaumontguru on this. The '67 Sport Deluxe when ordered with stripes would omit the Sport Deluxe quarter panel emblems.

Your trim tag will actually say D96 where the options are listed.

If it is an early SD it will be a 736-series car. At that time you could get an SD with a 283, 327 or 396. The D96 stripes were available only with the 396 (both D96 & L34 would appear on the trim tag). It will be an A51 Sports Option car.

Later SDs (starting December '66?) were all 738-series and all came with 396 power. The base engine at that point became with 325-horse 396, with the 350-horse L34 becoming an option. It could have a base bench seat or an optional A51 bucket seat (at that point the D55 option code appeared since you now had the choice to order the console or leave it off).

As for the cursive Sport Deluxe script I don't know what to tell you. If yours is a stripe car it would not be the first that somebody added the Sport Deluxe nameplate to after it was built. It is conceivable that a specific dealer did it to make it distinctive on their lot. Like I said, check for D96 on the trim tag to indicate that somebody added the emblems after it rolled off the line. I'm not sure but I think the factory punched the emblem holes, whereas anybody else would drill the holes.

Hi CdnGMfan.  I bought a beaumont sd new in march of '67 and the script on it was printed script. I have just finished work on my current "67 beaumont sd and it was also printed but in poor condition so I bought new script from Dale's Muscle cars but this time I bought "66 script wich is written script. The only reason I put "66 script on was because I thought it looked sooooo much better than the correct script for "67 which is printed. Hope this helps .
