Had them trailered from Winnipeg, MB. to Barrie, ON. in mid-Aug this year. I've owned the 66 (primered) since 84 and I've had the 65 (white) since about 87. I took the 66 down to the frame on the front, replaced/cleaned/repainted everything from the firewall forward. Drove the 65 down for The Pas, MB. Then put it into storage for a few years, pulled the front clip, got side tracked and it's been waiting for a front clip since then. And ya, if you know where I can get a good front clip for a 65 Catalina, I do want to hear from ya! As you can see, there's a little bit of work to do. They've been sitting since 94. And sitting alot before that too.
Same way we loaded them. Drive up the on=ramp for the hi-way at a hi-rate of speed, aim and launch onto trailer. White car started with front clip. Actually, they both looked new before the jump. Ok, We had a tilt-a-bed, pull the car up and load it, then back up to flat bed, then we pushed the cars across and tied them down. we did that for each car in Wpg, then in Barrie. When the cars got to Barrie, we waited 4 hours for the tilt bed to come and take them off the flat bed. It stated snowing just as we finished up for the night, around mid-night. My neighbors were happy to see the loud trucks with clanking chains leave I'm sure.
Hmmm, not a bad idea! Would save me the trouble of finding a front clip. Easy engine access. Save weight, better gas miliage. Nothing but pros on this idea.
I really dont suggest you drag the Pontiac w/o front end , BUT i think it would be cool to see a big block bare nosed Pontiac, with tall intake and headers pointing out maybe cycle fenders for cruise night.. When I was 17 , I was at a local track, and was shocked to see a guy pull his front end off, to run top eliminator .. I will post the picture from 1967 He beat a Henry J altered!!!!
LOL, I just realized, it was august when we took those pics. It was November when I finally got the 66 into the garage, that was the night it snowed. LOL Funny how much things are clearer when you get some sleep. Gary
That'd be great. I'd almost take anything at this point, but, I would like a fairly good clip. It also needs to be off an American pontiac. Let me know what you find, I could go for a drive and check it out. (when I'm free from work).
Right, Carl, test drove the BB 66 GP you were selling about 20ish ears ago, all coming back to me now. Next time I'm visiting family in Wpg, will try to grab a coffee with you, catch up on old times. Well that one time really, I guess.
That would be great, please let me know. I would love to share some car stories at Tim's. There is a new one just a mile or so inside the perimeter, so that is a very easy 40 minute ride for me.
