saw a 66 acadian invader in moncton that someone had put pontiac emblems on, i informed him that it was an acadian sold at pontiac dealerships, but still not a pontiac. he said i first one that could tell him anything about his car.

I AGREE!  I have seen people, put Chevrolet emblems on Pontiacs and Beaumonts! Can you imagine, someone putting crossed flags on that red 67SD rag, that was I OF 66??  People like that, should be banned from cruise nights, and car shows! The nerve of them!   MY Beef?  Antennas that are slanted and engine compartments all painted, and chromed up, like a clown show. My friend has a red 70 Chevelle SS and it is gorgeous, until you open the hood! He painted the fenderwells the same color, and put chrome on the rad shroud and booster, and even ran that ugly braided crap on his hoses!!  When ever we go to cruise night, I keep shutting his hood for him.. The nerve!

Soooooo, I guess, I should take the maxima SE emblem (sticker) off my Ponitac eh?
LOL
But I hear ya.
I have to replace front clip on 2+2.
Wish I would've measured mounting holes on old fenders.
Got 10 fender fins to add to each fender as I'm sure I won't find the 2+2 fenders.
And you can bet you're bottom $, I ain't drilling til I know for sure....

I hear ya loud and clear Andrew!  That is one of my beefs as well.  Maybe I shouldn't be so critical of these guys but it drives me nuts when I see an incorrect molding or emblem.  I try to appreciate that these guys are car enthusiasts just as we are and it is their choice to do what they like.  Still very hard to take at times.  I have seen the fins backwards on a 67 SD car once and I was actually angry about it angered.gif

Yup always willing to help out... i have sent dimensions of emblems (cad drawings) to a few people already... i was telling my dad the story about emblems being mounted on the wrong spots... he remembered a kid (a 'bit slow' he put it) used to go around at bison dragstrip and close the hoods on cars that had shiny bolt on parts, but not the ones that were all stock and 'rattle can' black, used to call him 'the tireshop kid' others just called him 'the rubber' but that was just plain mean -he couldn't remember why though... anyways, he said the kid was pasty white, maybe 20 years old at the time....that was almost 40 years ago though, probably couldn't stand to see his own reflection... sometimes that can be just for the better...

I'd like to see some engine pics of that 70 chevelle! is it an ls5 car?

I hate to see them in the wrong places also-sometimes suggests it could be cloned, the yellow 67 looks like it has 66 emblems on the front fenders too high-quarter panel louvers are all chrome which isn't correct.

funny you mention the reverse louvers-thats the way the dealer brochure showed them

Shawn Heffernan has an SD rag with the louvers climbing up hill.

do you have correct template or mearsurements for the rear quarter louvers.

I had a picture of your yellow car from a cruise night in Winnepeg back in the early 90's-the guy who owned my old deepwater blue 67 sent it to me-that car is now in Kentucky

Ok I will play along with this one I had the 1/4s put on my car and unfortunatly for me the guy chucked the old 1/4s out even though I requested that I needed the meausurements off of them I am not trying to defend the others that you are talking about but myself I asked 4 diffrent people that had cars for sale or that were in my area and did not get any responce I posted on a couple old sites about any one knowing of any 66 sd's that were close to them and still to no avail I started diggin around on this thing they call the world wide web and got a bunch of pics I chose to get them printed so I could try and figure where the proper spot for the sd emblems go Unfortunatly it is my car and if they are wrong I am quite happy with where they are and think they look decent It took alot of courage on my part to finally put the drill bit against my fresh paint as I know that I pretty much had only one chance at it Just my 2 cents on the matter as some people try and no one offers the info so sometimes you have to just wing it and do the best with the info that you are able to get

That is the great thing about sites like this, it puts people with similar interests and info together... i learn alot on them (esp. team chevelle) everybody does their best for their cars! mine isnt perfect, but hey, i can say i was 14 years old and did everything myself! there was another west coast 67 sd for sale recently (black i think) and the emblems were all over...

67BBSD I've emailed you the dimensions i have, for all the 67 beaumont emblems ... unfortunately its all dimensioned with the emblems on...but i think they are still complete and useful enough to locate them... my car is original sheet metal, and if you have another to compare to i'd be interested to see if there are any discrepancies...

Yes, sad isn't it-I owned the car seven years-had a weak moment-my all time favorite car of well over 200-still on a search for a replacement.

heres a shot of it back in 1994

as for proper location-I worked at a GM dealer and the senior bodyman showed me the two finger or three finger. often these emblems are lined on a car from a starting point (bodyline/end of panel) by a finger width or two not uncommon for the guy on a different shift to have a chubbier finger. The factory gave a speck to the installer but there was a tolorance, yours look great ! especially if you had no help. lotsa critics have plently of problems with their own car or don't even own a car to begin with.

I'm an appraiser and often arrive at the owner's home to find him in defence of the car's issues-a little secret most cars are not much different than the others.

drive and enjoy-slide sideways in the grave-those who matter won't mind-those who mind don't matter
