To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Chevrolet big block, GM Performance Parts is developing a modern version of the ZL1. The Anniversary Edition 427 will have a limited production with only 427 being produced Globally. This Engine was announced at SEMA in November 2007 and it has received a great deal of media attention. Many of you are receiving customer requests for information and how to place orders. Although a part number has been issued, it has not been released into our engineering, materials management and pricing systems. Therefore, we have not finalized pricing, production schedules or distribution plans.
The Engine is currently in the testing and validation stages of development. Upon completion, the production schedule will be finalized. We currently anticipate this will be mid year 2008.
A Global Distribution Plan is being developed and Canada will be allotted a finite number of these engines. Until the Canadian allotment is confirmed, we will not be taking orders of this engine manually or electronically. The Part Number will be put on control in our ordering system.
We will apprise you of the Canadian Distribution plan, pricing and order processing when it is finalized. Until that time, please be patient as we work with our Global Performance Parts Partners to ensure a fair and equitable distribution of this special anniversary engine.
I wonder how many will be alloted to Canada? Also, if there's only 427 being produced worldwide, what happens if you buy one and have a warranty claim? Todd
