Ok its not a Pontiac but it was built in Oshawa, I got it for Free! (if you don't count the ownership transfer kit, plates, registration, safety and two rear rotors.) for my kids to drive, I couldn't resist. It drives very well and it has a solid 3.8 V6 ONLY 228,000 km! I have a spot light for it but they won't let me put it on.
I'd like to snag one of those 87 Regal T-Types that the FBI used. They weren't speed governed! Apparently they had gun racks mounted above the rear seats! Here's a pic of a former FBI Regal:
And since this thread started with a Buick, my all time favourite Police Car....the 1955 Buick Special, 270 made for the California Highway Patrol......if you think real hard you can see Broderick Crawford behind the wheel.
I think so, I am no expert on the car but I believe it was a cross, a post coupe Special 48 would not have had 4 portholes just three so they took the front end of the expensive Century with its powerful V8 and put it on the plain Jane. Half were automatic and half were manual. I think the engine was a 322 with 236 HP.
Yes, the Lumina was built in Oshawa too.It has a 3.1
Does it have dual mufflers and tail pipes too?
When I saw the Buick had a 3.8 thats why I grabbed it, I won't say it is rare but seems like the vast majority of these genre cars, Lumna, Grand Prix,Cutlass are 3.1. Don't know if it makes a difference but I had a Bonneville with the 3.8 and it was one of the best cars I ever owned, much faster than this Buick but of course it didn't have 228,000 hard km. on the clock either.
I got a 1972 Ventura sprint for free. Years ago. I gave the kid a case of Canadian as well. He was going into the military and his parents wanted the car gone. It was silver with black stripes down the side and it was a hatchback. Body was very good, with minor rust bubbles on the rear. It had a 140 MPH speedo in it. Brakes were metal on metal, but I drove it anyways. I sold it to a guy in a band and saw him years later. He told me he'd driven it to his "gigs" all across Canada and all he did to it was the brakes and replaced the alternator. Wish I'd kept that one too... Haven't seen the guy now for years, wonder where that one wound up...
