My 1972 Pontiac Luxury Lemans Sport 2DR was built in Oshawa, late 71. It is under restoration process. The car is red now but will be painted back to it's original Anaconda Gold color, sport mirrors, the vinyl roof will be coming off. I might get it painted a nicer Gold color with black GT sripes and rally II's, regular Lemans grilles. I was happy when I received the build sheet from Oshawa stating that my car is one of only 33 built at that plant...about 7500 in the USA. It was sold new in Winnipeg Manitoba. It has the same drivetrain as the GTO such as: 400 YS and 7K3 heads 250HP 4 barrel engine with factory dual snorkel air cleaner and dual exhaust. Interior includes the white buckets, console and wood trim steering wheel and black dash with simili wood trim, carpet, 140 MPH speedometer, turbo 400 transmission, front disc brakes and 12 bolt ( I am adding a brand new Eaton posi unit) rearend 3.31 ratio, lucky for me the 12 bolt only came with the 455 option in the states, alot of cars came with the 12 bolt in Oshawa, even the 68-69 Beaumonts with 307. I can't wait to get it back on the road.
These pics are from the day I picked it up after buying it back in december 2006, the seats are now re-upholstered and bought a new Goodmark trunkfloor and driver side quarter panel. The resto is going slow because I bought a house last october and I need a good garage built so I can restore my car. At least I manage to buy a good 75 Grandprix LJ 455 parts car, cheap too ! Car is rusty but the engine purrrrrs like a kitten.
Nice Lemans. What I heard on vinyl roof cars was that if the 1/4 seam didn't look good coming down the production line. The plant would mark it with an X and it would become a vinyl top car.So when you take the vinyl top off.Could you tell me if there is an X by the 1/4 seam.
Anybody knows if I can find out how many 1972 Pontiac Luxury Lemans 400 sport coupe were built in Ste-Therese Quebec ? Also, How do I display my Avatar, It's not working for me ?
So when you go to the top right of the screen and click on your name (pontorquer) and then to the left side and click on avatar, you see at least one picture there?
If so, click on the picture. That will make a blue box around the picture. Then click on Select Avatar and BINGO!!!

My first cool car was a 72 Lemans Sport, buckets/console 350 Chevy engine-those were the days-24 years ago ! I had $970 in it and it looked great-new paint/chrome, solid car, headers, HEI, Quad 4bbl
