this is what i've been working on this winter. its a 87 f150 9in that i've narrowed down to 38in between the backing plates. i'm just waiting for the spring perches then i'll dry assemble and mockup in the chassis. the reason the shafts aren't the same lenghts is that i've centered the pinion.
you know the old carpenters creed (measure twice cut once). according to the offset of the 10in wide rims and the BFG 295/50/15 this will gives me 1 1/2 outside the frame and 2 in inside the body. we will find out later this week if all was for naught.
Does my rear still look phat. on subsequence part procurement for my rear end i've discovered that the rear end is out of a 67 1/2 ton with the brakes off a 87 f150. not bad for a $40. wrecking yard purchase for a 9in posi. only thing is that it is gear 2.73, but with the 454 pushing through a saggy 4speed the ratio should be adequate
