I always refer the following link. I know the gentleman who did the research from another forum and he is very meticulous. It is a Pontiac chart, but I think we are all aware that Americans refer to Beaumonts as Pontiacs or Canadian Chevelles. If it is not helpful it will be at least interesting. I have seen small block Chevys painted green in 55 vintage Canadian Pontiacs in the past.

Yes, as far as I have seen, all from at least 63-74 were Chevy orange. Likely farther back too.

Yes, and I asked the owner, I recall it was a 55 Laurentian I saw at a cruise in. He said that it was the orginal colour, it also has a Pontiac script on the valve covers. I thought it was odd but the chart I posted bears this out.

Since we're on the general subject,  does anyone know what colour the standard trans in my 64 might have been?

Small block V8s in canada were the same color as the US ones.  BUT, some exceptions.  teh oil fill tube, and breather cap are also orange on canadian cars.  The pulleys were actually a bare zinc silver color(but knowone does that, except the purists).
As for the trans question, PGlides in 64 were natual aluminium color.
Crazy thing in 63, all the belhousings, and trans(std and AT) were painted chevy orange.  I speculate that the paint caused poor heat transfer, so in 64 they changed to bare castings.
Also don't forget that canadian cars had Aluminuum ignition coils instead of black. (this applies on 62-66 cars for sure).

Beaumontguru, all the available trans in 64 must have been aluminum casings then?  I have a cast iron sag, so I guess I'll have to go chev orange.

I was refering to the Automatics.  I would think that the 64 standards would be bare cast iron.  but don't quote me on that.
63 was orange for sure.
